Considering what is going on I thought he was terrific tonight, he shielded the defence superbly and unlike Hendo and Milner he was prepared to drop back and take the ball off the back 4 to get us going.
He's the best DM at the club and we'd be crazy to let him go.

Started a bit slow and also faded a bit before he came off, but other than that he did the job our other midfielders can't and he did it well. Apart from shielding the back 4, I counted at least three tackles/interceptions that were made in the oppo's half and started a counter attack. I really don't understand what's Brendan thinking, Lucas will be a big loss if he leaves.

Loved the ovation when he came off by the way. Hope it wasn't a goodbye ovation but must admit it did look like one.

We have not got a recognised DM that can bully the oppo. Lucas is definitely  the best we have in that department. We should keep him without a doubt. Against the swift attacking sides we will need him. I think BR will play him vs united city and chelsea.

Thought he was solid without being spectacular. Not physical enough, but if we aren't going for a boss DM, he needs to stay.

Definitely a better player than Allen.

Besiktas president: "LFC do not want Lucas to go, the transfer can only go ahead with their say so there's nothing we can do right now".

I'm delighted we appear to be blocking his move to besiktas.

The only thing I can say is what a turnaround on behalf of the club. Last week the chap couldn't even make the squad, In fact going by reports he wasn't even training with the team and the club had agreed to let him leave but now after a good game against arsenal we change our minds

Reality is, Lucas will get just a handful of games, so the original decision to allow him move on was based on sound evidence. Perhaps it can be delayed for one year, or half a season, but his time here is clearly up, based on the MF players we have available, and the options from the academy, like young Rossiter...
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

I have to disagree mate, Lucas is the best DM at the club and I think you are over rating the likes of Hendo, Milner and Allen a bit if you think they are clearly better than him. As for Rossiter he is nowhere near ready, he only turned 18 in March and he won't be a regular in the starting XI for at least 2 or 3 years, maybe more.

One decent performance doesn't make him Vieira. Or even Mascherano.

He's a solid player who proved that in a decent away performance. I'm happy if he stays but won't be crying into my pint if he goes, there are plenty of players of his quality floating around the European and south American leagues.

It irritates me when he's dismissed by some as a nothing player, becausr hes not, but equally so when some feel it would be a huge mistake selling him. I don't think it would hurt us as long as we reinvested in a direct replacement. Selling him without replacing him now I agree would be a huge mistake.

Everyone fit I would have a midfield two of Can and either Henderson or Milner. If we're away against a big side then all 3. Lucas would be my next choice ahead of Allen.

Agree 100%. A very odd and inconsistent approach. If they didn't want to get rid then why in heaven's name did they encourage the player to talk to Beskitas? Kind of thing that makes us look unprepared for the reality of top 4 football: the squad requirements should have been finalised one week after the end of last season.

He is the best DM at the club, which doesn't say much tbh. He is in a team where a specialist DM is no longer a prime requirement. In any case, he is no longer an top DM...More importantly, the LFC approach favors a controlling MF in that position, who is simultaneously able to defend...

Get the impression the club may have thought it time to move Lucas on but Rodgers didnt agree.

By playing him against Arsenal and more importantly subbing him with the only available replacement Rossiter, a development player, he made his point.

Lucas played very well against Arsenal but he will need to do that consistenyly to convince me hes a short and longer term answer for us.
