LIVERPOOL VS WEST HAM - Possible fa cup final rehearsal

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby tubby » Sun Apr 23, 2006 9:52 am

So another season rolls to a finish and although we didnt retain out European crown Rafa has helped this team reach a 3rd final in 2 seasons. West Ham was the game earlier in the season that kciked us up the :censored: once and for all and sincxe then we have gone rom strengh to strengh. Although weve got 3rd place sow up now we still need to go out on a high.

He could use a rest but not that he ever seems to tire however Momo Sissoko will miss Liverpool's next two games.

Sissoko will miss Wednesday's rearranged game with West Ham at Upton Park and the final home game of the season against Aston Villa on Saturday through suspension.

Sissoko picked up his tenth yellow card of the season against Blackburn last week and so automatically picked up a two game ban.

We need to make sure we win at Upton Park so that if Wst Ham do get to Cardiff we will mentally be above them.

I personally would prefer to get west ham as well, i think boro are that bit stronger than them, although in saying that we have defeated both of them and boro may be tired after their european adventure!

on that note, how fcuking good is it not having to worry about the uefa cup anymore, we should be in the champions league every season, if we ended up in the uefa cup id go mad, its really gone sh1t!

i think there will be a fair few changes on wednesday night cos some of the lads looked knackered after the chelsea game:

players to come in will be cisse on the right, hammann for one of the central lads, warnock or traore with riise going to the wing, and fowler should start as well, possibly kromkamp and agger as well just to freshen things up, and these players will all have points to prove in order to be pushing for first team places, therefore my team would be:

Reina

Kromkamp
Warnock
Hyppia/Carra
Agger

Riise
Cisse
Hamman
Alonso

Fowler
Crouch

Still not a bad team at all

I was under the impression Momo's card was after the suspension date? Isn't that why Rafa held him back a couple of weeks ago? I think you'll find he's clear to play despite his yellow. May be wrong, but I don't think so.

I feel resting players is the key for the rest of the season.

Fowler, hamann, cisse, kromkamp, agger, warnock etc. keep our first team in peak fitness for the final

Traore? ???? He's bad enough as a left back let alone a centre back. If players need to be rested why not play Agger?

I was going to raise the point about Sissoko's "ban", but it's been covered. The cut-off date was mentioned on SS during one of our games, so it's beyond reasonable doubt.

I wouldn't start resting tons of players just yet, as there's still an outside possibility of 2nd place, and the FA Cup final is a way off.

I'd go with a pretty familiar team VS West Ham,

                                      Reina

Kromkamp                 JC               Agger               Riise
                            Sissoko
                                                Alonso
          Gerrard                                                  Kewell
                                Fowler
                                          Crouch

I haven't given up on 2nd yet either.  We've got a game on
Wednesday
Saturday
Sunday week
Saturday

There are only four games left and I don't think the players look tired.  They may be a little mentally tired from defeating Chelski, but I wouldn't rest too many.  I'd only rest/rotate one or two and go all out for the win to put some pressure on ManUre.  You never know.  The truth is we've got a week leading up to the Cup Final, to rest, train and work on tactics.  Let's show the Happy Hammers who's boss!

Why couldn't Fowler play in a league game versus West Ham? Unless he's injured or something..
