LIVERPOOL VS NEWCASTLE - The season starts here

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The players need to be fired up on Wednesday, to show a bit of character and mettle. No doubt they will be aware of the criticism coming from pundits, ex-players, supporters and internet-nerdlingers and will want to put it right. They simply have to be firing on all cylinders right from the first whistle, right to the last as you would expect that a team like Newcastle would be perfect to get the passing game going and slot a few goals in.

However, confidence will be a bit on the low side after one terrible league performance where we made defensive lapses and one decent performance where the problem lay with the attack. I don't think Newcastle will be a pushover and in Duff and martins they have two fast tricky players who can score goals. I'd prefer to be proved wrong and for us to get 3 or 4 without reply of course.

Midweek league games at home are usually a sh#te atmosphere but I hope the moaning tw@ts get behind the team and inspire us on to victory.

I'm going for a 0-0 draw, I can't see us winning this one.

I'd play

Martin
Finnan Agger Hyypia Aurelio
Pennant Gerrard Sissoko Warnock
Garcia
Crouch

Bellamy, Kuyt, Reina and Carragher all get dropped to the bench due to s.hit recent form. In Kuyt's case it's just a rest because he's played a fair bit recently.

Warnock in midfield??!! Actually, best to just ignore your comments completely as whether you're a wind-up merchant or not- you're definitely mentally challenged!!   :p

We'll now have to show the spirit like Arsenal boys did yesterday and Chelsea's match was the begining of fire.

Don't even bother to reply to him. Its obvious he isn't a Liverpool fan, he posts to wind people up.

Arsenal played the perfect away performance.  They passed the ball so well and kept it for long periods.  Not just spirit that won them that game but great technical ability.

We have had some epic encounters with the bar-codes over the last few seasons and i'm looking forward to this one.  I would like to see crouch and bellamy start, and surely rafa will start with gerrard in the middle?. I think we need to establish a settled team selection there's been too much tinkering with the squad, this is a "must win" game for us and a big seven days ahead for us with spurs and galatasary awaiting us, we need to start clicking up front and wednesday would be a good time to start. :nod

Pennant.............Gerrard...............Alonso..............Gonzalez

I think we need to play Kuyt from the start to build up his confidence, and hopefully he can score in this game. Also, I would give Aurelio one more chance and start with Gonzalez for a change. Give Sissoko a rest and play Gerrard in his proper position.

Time to pick up 2 wins on the bounce, at the very least we need to start playing the same back 5 in 90% of games:

                    Reina

Finnan   Carrgher   Agger   Aurelio

Pennant Gerrard    Alonso  Gonzalez

             Kuyt      Bellamy

i think yes what about you
