LIVERPOOL VS NEWCASTLE - The season starts here

I think its time we took a step back, play a solid formation to gain our confidence ,and get the team playing fluent passing football. Play a midfield diamond ,with Bellamy and Garcia using the channels to stretch Newcastle.  This will have the added advantage of allowing Gerrard to make forward runs secure in the knowledge that Sissoko and Alonso are covering for him. Which means we will  have the chance to actually have 4 players in the box at times.
I know this formation is narrow, but with Finnan and Riise/Aurelio supporting it wouldnt be too bad. We can always bring Pennant or Gonzales on second half if needed.

                                  Reina

Finnan          Caragher             Agger           Aurelio/Riise

                                  Alonso

                 Gerrard                   Sissoko

                              Garcia

                        Kuyt      Bellamy

Newcastle have got some good players, especially Craig Bellamy.

Liverpool's defenders have got to keep an eye on him.

That Gazza fellow's not too bad, either! :D

Yeah. Beardo & Bellamy, with Gazza just behind them, could be tricky for our defence to contain.

:D

Good news Shay Givens in hospital, I really rate him as a golie, and if he is out the way we have a very good chance of winning, we really need to start finding the net, its the same as last season when we could'nt score for toffee.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I’m hoping we don’t go 1-0 down.  We haven’t scored 1st yet this season and are always chasing games.  Also like to see some strikers score.  I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter who scores as long as the side wins but goals are what strikers get there confidence from.

Does anyone know the best place to park as i've got a 3-4 hour drive to get to Anfield so i don't want to spend too long looking for a spot to park

he has had surgery on a tear in his stomach so we can probably assume he will be missing on wedneday

I would go for:

                          Reina

Finnan            JC        Agger        Aurelio

Gerrard         Sissoko     Alonso      Garcia

                   Kuyt       Bellamy

I'd go for:
                       Reina

Finnan            JC        Agger        Warnock

Gerrard         Sissoko     Alonso      Garcia/Aurelio

                  Crouch     Bellamy

I don't think Aurelio's quite used to the Premiership yet to start a game in defence so i'd either start him in midfield (so he can gain more experience) or i'd go with Garcia so he can show us what we've been missing (he must be chomping at the bit to get on the field- which must benefit us). The only other change i may make to my line-up would be to move Gerrard inside for Sissoko and put Pennant back on the wing.

I've gone for Crouch up front with Bellamy as i think Kuyt has looked excellent coming off the bench and Crouch deserves to start having scored more goals than others! Although Kuyt is great on the ball i think Crouch is more effective at bringing other players in to the game so deserves a game and then Kuyt can come in to spice things up for either Crouch or Bellamy depending upon their performances.

2-0 Bellamy to get at least one against his old team! :p

I just get the feeling once Kuyt scores one or two he will be on fire. Let's hope it goes that way.

Just to make sure the 3 points are in the bag, I'd give Bellamy a full can of pepper spray and hand him a note saying that Titus Bramble told the linesman he was offside.

Xabi in the holding role it’s too risky. Put Momo in there instead.
That’s the team that he has got to play week in week out for the exception of Aurelio.

I can't believe its not on Sky. I'll happily trade this game for the away game at Bolton they're showing in a couple of weeks.

Useless!

As for the game, the way I see it we have 4 winnable games before we go to Old Trafford. Newcastle, Tottenham & Blackburn at home and Bolton away. I think we need to be taking at least 10 points out of the 12 available to even consider beating Man U away.
