In 1914 they made it to the final tie for the first Cup Final attended by a reigning monarch but George V saw them lose to Burnley in a dour affair.
Burnley also beat them in the semi-final in 1947 but in 1950 Liverpool got to their second final, this time removing Everton in the last four. It was another disappointment as Arsenal won 2-0. Not until Bill Shankly’s arrival did they get back to the semis and in 1963 came another defeat in the last four."
