LIVERPOOL VS BARNSLEY - 16th feb 2008 - FA Cup 5th round

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

"For a long time the Anfield side seemed to be jinxed in the FA Cup. They lost their first three semi-finals, two back in the Nineteenth Century and one in 1906 to Everton of all clubs. In 1914 they made it to the final tie for the first Cup Final attended by a reigning monarch but George V saw them lose to Burnley in a dour affair.

Burnley also beat them in the semi-final in 1947 but in 1950 Liverpool got to their second final, this time removing Everton in the last four. It was another disappointment as Arsenal won 2-0. Not until Bill Shankly’s arrival did they get back to the semis and in 1963 came another defeat in the last four."

They managed by an ex manc, what did you expect  :D

Plus one was an own goal, and the 5th was offside, that changed the course of the game  :D  (anyone who takes this litterally, go and hang your head in shame now)
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Sami Hyypia returns to partner Jamie Carragher at the heart of the Liverpool defence for this afternoon's FA Cup fifth round clash at home to Barnsley.
Meanwhile, Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch lead the line.

The Liverpool team in full is:

                    Itandje

Finnan     Hyypia  Carragher   Riise

Benayoun  Lucas    Alonso     Babel

               Crouch   Kuyt.

Subs: Martin, Arbeloa, Kewell, Gerrard, Pennant.

a very strong team for Barnsley at home

I think Kuyt will score today in a 3-0 win. Benayoun has a good record against the cr@ppier sides so he should get one as well, with Lucas smashing another one in to finish them off.

Should be a routine win for us today. I predict - 4-0.
