Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I said at half-time tonight that I'd take 2-1. It was obvious that juve would throw everything at us for the 2nd half. If carson hadn't made that howler i think juventus would've scored anyway. The goal was coming it was just a question of where it came from. We have a real chance of winning the tie now going into the away leg. 1 goal will immediately cancel their away goal out. They'll have to be very defensive next week so as not to give away a goal and that could work in our favour. It looks as if Xabi is returning as well and that will be a huge boost for us especially given a poor performance from biscan tonight. On tonights performance, I thought we played brilliantly considering the opposition. We bossed them for the first half and kept Ibrahimovic and Del Piero quiet for most of the game. Disappointed with Biscans and baros' performance although i didn't expect much from the latter.

The pre-match tribute was very fitting and well organised. Unfortunaely some of the juve fans turned there backs on the ceremony but every club has its bad supporters.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

I think i would start with Haman if hes fit just to stiffle the
midfield but i do believe we can turn them over next week

Having Hamann instead of Biscan may well have stemmed the tide tonight but it's nit- picking as I'm sure most of us would have taken a 2-1 before the game started .....

Should Alonso be fiit and ready I'd play him and Hamann in the return with a 5 man midfield and give Gerrard a free role.

that one save by carson was amazing

Good game from Liverpool, exceptionnal first 30 minutes...
I'm still a bit disappointed by the goal Del Piero would probably have scored if the ref hadn't made a mistake...
I would have been happy with a 2-2 considering you dominated the first half and we had great occasions too (the post from Zlatan f.e).
Hope Capello will find your weak points and bomb them..

The ref didn't make a mistake according to their new offside rule, as it says that if any part of your body is offside then you are offside, at least thats what was said during the game and Del Piero's head was offside therefore it was called.

However even if the ref didn't call it Del Piere wouldn't had scored, Carson would had gotten to the ball quicker but he didn't as the whistle was blown.

You were outplayed and out classed in the first half you needed a " Lucky goal" to help save some of your pride, we wont be afraid of you in Turin if you turn in a preformance like that!. Were you actually on the pitch in the first half?..or was that your reserve team out there, cos' you never got a look in. We were given a better game by Leverkusen in the last round.

The team for the second leg:
                Dudek

Finnan  Hyypia  Carragher  Traore/Warnock
            Biscan/Hamann
Garcia  Gerrard  Alonso  Riise

                  Baros

By the way, whats about all the booing whenever Juventus players touch the ball during the match? Is it just me, but I kind of find it disrespectful. The booing might further provoke those Juventus ultras to seek revenge during the second leg?

we made 1 of the most fearsome teams in the world look ordinary, away from home we should revel and we need 1 of those classic dogged european away performances that houllier created, im going for 1-1 away from home for an all english semi final, we have proven yet again on our day we are more than a match for any team

the highlight of the night for me was baros' aftermatch interview.

he was "delighted with the three points" apparently.

Hi all. I'm a Juventus fan from Italy, and i'm here just to apologize for the bad and unacceptable behavior of Juventus supporters at Anfield. We're not all like them, and we're ready to welcome you here in Italy!

so is it safe for those who travel to Turin? will any Juve fans attending the match at Delle Alpi possess a revengeful mind?
