Kewell or riise - Who`s best

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i thought harry kewell had a good second half today, he caused arsenal no end of problems and looked like he was going to create something even when pinned to the touchline by a couple of defenders. riise is a good player but i dont think he`s a natural wide left midfielder and this may seem controvertial but i`d be tempted to start with harry in istanbul to get after their fullbacks from the start.
that would leave me with a big decision at left back - stick with djimi or break up a proven effective unit on big european nights and play john arne there.
or is it better to leave harry on the bench?
its got me thinking.

Kewell when playing at his best. Riise isn't a winger and never will be, he's done well for temporary bases but speaking long-term he can't cut it out as a winger. He's too static.

Tough one but i think kewell just edges it for me, but is it just me but does it seem like kewell has lost much of his pace which is quite worrying.

I don't think Kewell has lost his pace, I think he just lacks the confidence of running at defenders at full speed.

Riise is the best by some way. Kewell is as much use as Rover warranty. I dont think the guy has played one good game since he joined the club, on the other hand Riise has many and in differing positions. I would play Riise before Kewell anywhere on the pitch. No contest.

you don't remember some of his games when he first came then? kewell is a class player. i don't buy any of this 'he's just taking the 60k a week and bumming around' cr@p and i don't believe a top player just becomes suddenly rubbish. there are many complex reasons behind kewell's drastic drop in form and it looks like some of them are fixed thanks to rafa's patience. he's gonna come good again very very soon. i say play him from the start in the final.

I think Kewell is the better Winger(and i stress winger, not midfielder), but as an OVERALL player, i would say Riise JUST scrapes it, due to his versatility.
But A Riise/Kewell (both on form), down the left is perfect(well not perfect but u know what i mean!).
However, i think for the CL final, we need to start with Riise, i say this because Cafu is a strong bugger and i think he'd have a field day against Harry, wheras Riise has that strength to battle Cafu in both defending/attacking. Oh yeah, he has that seriously powerful left too.........Volleys, free kicks..etc; He is a potential match winner, tho Harry is too i suppose!

Riise has had a fantastic season, scored plenty of goals and terrorised various defenders.
Kewell has spent two mediocre years here doing almost nothing, providing a dead end to possesion and declaring himself fit or injured at a whim.

It's not a hard choice to make!

That would be correct if he asked best player THIS seaon  :Oo:

But he didn't So I'll answer the question  :D

Kewell seems to play his best games against Arsenal and is the best player in terms of natural ability but for work rate and making the best of his talents I'd say Riise.

Regarding the CL Final I'd deffo start Riise over Kewell but Harry should make the bench .........

I think Traore's performance against Chelsea should have been enough for him to keep his spot at RB. I'd personally start Riise on the left and have Kewell on the bench if he's getting no joy. Kewell's also an option on the right - Nunez and Garcia have been generally poor there - and consider using Garcia in the withdrawn striker role in the centre.

I think Benitez must start with Garcia in the Gap behind Cisse and use Gerard and Alonso as the midfield pairing. A bit hard on Biscan I know after his European Expolits but he has to pick his best players and Biscan IMO doesn't tick all the boxes that other players do .......Riise joins the midfield and Hamann plays in front of the back four....

:rasp Kewell is quality, but it's funny how he"s fit for the big games. We could have made 4th easily if he had been playing all season,i hope he does"nt turn out to be a glory hunter.P.S Biscan is not good enough.
