Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Ian Rush scored four at a Woodison derby as a 20 year old, Andy Carroll took 8 months to score 4.

Rush was born in October 1961 and scored four at Everton in October 1982 so he was 21 not 20.

Rush joined Liverpool in March 1980 so by October 1982 he was in his third full season at the club.

Rush joined a squad of title winners Carroll joined a squad in the top six. That said clearly if Carroll isn't scoring regularly next season let alone the season after he will have to go I think.

On today the first half was great the second petered out. The game reminded me of the first game against Sunderland.

lad, Kenny WONT dropped them, because they're his players.  Carroll hasn't improved either, he's rubbish and the fact Kenny didn't bring him on until the 93rd min says it all.

We're a mid table team and nothing will change until we clear out the cr@p that Kenny brought in.  Thing is, can we do that without clearing Kenny out either?

I honestly don't know mate. Kenny needs to get his head in gear before it's too....wait, it's already too late. Our players are ok. But we need more. More options. We need to give some of the kids a chance. We were actually very good today for the most part. It's a good basis for a team. I'd not sell any. Not Carroll, Downing, Adam or Hendo. But we need other options and the chance to do that passed in january. Throw a few of the younger lads in and see what happens. Other than the FA cup, we now have nothing else to play for this year...and it's only March  :(

You say that but the football in the first half was great particularly that move which ended with Henderson's shot and Suarez'z follow up that hit the post. The move that led to that chance was as good at anything City or United have shown this season.

I'm not sure there's much issue about Dalglish's future given what Mr Henry said last sunday. Nothing surprises me in football though. Top four is virtually gone after today I'm afraid psychologically now even seven points will be too much to chase.

Henderson and Downing played well today but Adam doesn't convince he faded badly as he has in other games. I would sell in the summer and bring in Martinez or someone of similar quality from the continent.

I've taken off my rose tinted glasses and it's clear for me now. Downing, Henderson, Adam, Carroll - 80 million pounds of complete dross there. 7th is completely unacceptable.

These guys have to be sold and I hope Kenny has the sense in him to realize this. Damien Commolli's role needs to be brought under the scanner as well.

As 4th has now flown I hope that Dalglish starts looking to the future and blooding some of the younger kids now.

No point in keep chucking Carra back in for example and give this lad Coates his chance. If he makes mistakes so what just keep faith in what you brought in.

Leave the dead wood he doesnt want next year out altogether and give some of the better kids a shot between now and the end of the season.

Remove sentiment, remove nostalgia.. remove any emotional aspect as that is worth sweet f**k all in analysing where we sit.

Once thats done, if anyone seriously, genuinely, truthfully, thinks that we are moving forward, with the players we have, with the money we've spent, with where we sit.. you are one of two things.. deluded.. or a wind up merchant.

Kenny had his bedding in period in the last 6 months of last season (unfortunately he screwed it up within weeks with his 35m signing). This season was judgement.. and the league has been Souness-esque. I would dearly love Mourinho as i want us to compete for the league, i dont want to see average garbage spend 3 or 4 seasons here and then we finally get rid (Heskey).. if someone aint good enough u dont faff about. I do think Kenny will get next season (he shouldnt) and if we are not top 4 (with this group of players we dont have a hope in hell) then he will be gone, REGARDLESS of any sentiment/nostalgia any of his followers have.

I agree with you completely here. I really hope we now start to focus on our youngsters and see what they have in their locker.

Coates, Sterling, Shelvey need to definitely get chances now.

Perhaps even Adorjan, Suso could get a look in.

I mean, there's no way we're hitting 4th, and Europa League is guaranteed, we really need to use this opportunity to try and blood in our promising youngsters.

There are more questions than answers to where we are heading, we have paid over the odds for some very average players and Kenny has to take the blame for that.

I still think Carroll has the potential to turn his career round, Henderson will come good, Downing & Adams aren't good enough for me.

We have won a Cup and still have a chance for another so it's not all bad but the league is going to take a while longer.

26 played, 39 points. Thats a 1.5 average.

So 38 games, 57 points.

57 points... we spent 100m.. to get 57 points.

57 points doesnt get a UEFA Cup place.

Whats criminal is the fact we dont have a decent #9, and spent 35million.

Your sigings make or break you... it did for Kenny at Newcastle. And exactly the same will happen here unless there is a staggering turnaround in the summer (Soldado type signing). No owner will allow a club to go 2 and a half years without CL football, spending a fortune, without acting. Im sure the owners will give Kenny another season (personally i wouldnt, he has shown nothing with his negative tactics, and poor british signings, to deserve one)...and if we are not top 4 next season he will be gone, regardless of our contrasting opinions right now.

Kerry you really are just a WUM - you recently promised not to mention Carroll until the end of the season. I have read two of your posts which include the usual bitter blue nose garbage! BOTH POSTS ALSO MAKE THE USUAL NEGATIVE REFERENCES TO CARROLL. I've said it before you are a disgrace of a supporter !!

You go on and on and on about Carroll, but you seem to constantly overlook the facts of the matter. It's all well and good saying Carroll is sh*t and that we should ahve got this guy, or maybe that guy, but you ignore the fact that they weren't available. We had one day to sign a player. The price we got for Torres was always going to dictate the cost of his replacement. We had one day to sign a new striker and Carroll was available.

Slate Carroll and Kenny all you like, but at least offer some REALISTIC alternative?
