Thats the thing people imgaine the team without him like yesterday and think we couldnt possibly sell him but it would be a different situation becuase we would have either 1 or two top quality players coming in to replace him.

Hes the best player ive ever seen as a supporter, gets my vote over Fowler because he served us longer, but hes not that player anymore and i really believe the money wed get for him would be best for us in the long run.

Saying that id have no problems with him retiring with us in his mid 30s as hes earned the right to in my eyes.

You can have her after me mate i'm generous like that! Haha! As for gerrard as you say he's a special player and for me he's worth two players already as he still influences the team's play more than he should now really as we should have someone in there now learning from him to carry things on once he has left. Being a scouser like you mentioning fowler, i know you can get emotionally attached to the players and sometimes you do need to think objectively.

Let's face it though i don't think we'd get 35 mill for him! I couldn't get rid though he will still be an important player for us for the next three seasons. Maybe he can do what roy keane did in his latter years and sit back and protect the back four and spread the play. I know he doesn't have the discipline to do that now because he still has the capability to break forward but he could definitelty play there as his last position i think

Stevie Gerrard's ability to run a game from a central position may be diminishing but surely he still has a role to play as a right midfielder or even as a right back.  Also, keeping the soul of the team in the dressing room for as long as possible is vital.  Back in 2002, some United supporters felt Fergie should have gotten rid of Giggs after an F.A. Cup defeat to Arsenal during which Giggs missed a sitter.  They felt Giggs was in decline !!!!  Nine years later he has just extended his contract.

Stevie Gerrard is a legend and part of the fabric of Liverpool.  He still has a huge amount to offer us.

??? , you haven't been watching liverpool games lately have you? in most games we badly missed him

Heart would really love to see him come good and make big impact

Head saying he will be joining Morientes and Kewell in signings that really got me excited for fireworks but turned out to be a damp squid

Didnt think id have to spell it out to be honest but here goes, if we sold Gerrard now it would be a completely different situation to when we dont have him in the team now as we would have 1 or 2 replacemest for him.

No ones slating Gerrard (its ashme you use every opportunity to SLATE Lucas) i just believe the money would do us more good, hes still got that ability to turn a game but those momenst dont happe as often and when was the last time he scored a Gerrard goal? hes on the decline mate he has been over 2 years, age catches up with even the best players. Good point on Giggs and thats why i also would have no problem with him retiring here, infact if i was 100% sure that wed have the money for the changes we need and not just 1 or 2 players a year then id prefer him to stay. I just thing we could do alot with the money and we would get about 35 million for him simple for his stature and marketing value.

Like Kenny said no ones bigger then the club.

first of all Pablo, why do we need to sell to buy under NESV?

second of all, he doesn't score as many spectacular goals now simply because he is getting more attention from opposing players as they know how dangerous he can be at loose balls hence they probably close him down quickly. but he does contribute significantly.

thirdly, he doesn't have to score Gerrard goals all the time to be an asset on the pitch. his mere presence itself does give the opposition something to worry about.

forth point, replacing Torres is easy. there are so many quality strikers out there. who do you have in mind to replace Gerrard? name names.

final point, just because we buy 1 or 2 players a year doesn't mean its a bad thing. its the quality that counts, not the quantity.

You call a player coming off the bench and scoring a hat trick a player in decline? A player who tried to get something out of the Mancs game early on this season a player on decline?

You know Giggs still has it, even though he isn't physically up to it anymore, he still has the ability to be a really good player. Watch the game against Blackpool when Giggs carved up Blackpool's defense to set up Chicharito (the game when they won 3-2). Even when Fowler came back he didn't look physically up to it because of his age but his technical and mental abilities were still there and won't go away. He may have lost a yard or fitness but he still had the finishing and the influence to score goals.

When did I ever slate Lucas THIS season other than saying he deserves credit for his performance and improvement this season?

Why would people advocate on selling Joe Cole when we know he is such a good player when fit and has the ability to influence game. He is just unfortunate with injuries, but once fit he will be a quality player who will add a new dimension into the team and he is twice the player Kuyt and Maxi are.

1. Dont know if we do, well have to wait until teh summer to find   out. I still think the money wed get for him would be better for us IMHO

2. o mate hes been marked by opposition since he was in his just out of his teens the reason he doesnt score as many is because he slices most of his shots nowadays and doesnt hit the target. Dont tell me you havent noticed now poor his shooting the last few years  has been compared to the past.

3. No one said he has just pointing out its a string to his bow thats seemed to have snapped. Hes still an assest to us a massive one but thiers other asests out their how have 10 years at the top left in them.

4. Well you persume we need to replace Gerrard with Gerrard Mk II. The money could go towards 2, 3 players in different positions and improve us overall.  DeFour, Turan, Lukaku, Hamsik, M'Vila, Hazard, Coentaro, Sanchez, Kjaer Adam to be honest its pointless naming more.

5. True i think thats the thing every supporters been banging on about but when you look at the teams above us and when you think about the money some of them have also are ageing squad then 2 a season probally will only be good eough after we do some major rebuilding in the summer. We can improve with 2 players mate but so will other teams we need to make a real statement of get to get back to the top. Unless its Messi and Ronaldo it will oNly happe if we get atleast 4 first team players IMHO

So you dont believe Gerrards on the decline you believe hes getting better? You dont have to point out the things hes done this season but them match winning performances are getting overshadowed by the games where he does nothing. You slated lUcas with your cocky remark when replying to me.

Now it actually sounds like i am slating him, but im just pointing out the obvious that hes not the player he was (still brilliant)
and the wrong side of 30. Despite what people think on here we would get a figure of 35 million for him. I just believe it would be better for the club in the long run but i also would have no complaints about him staying here and retiring for us. I love him hes teh greatest player ive ever seen for us but the club comes first for me and i believe it would benefit us more to get him.

I dont need people saying did u watch the sparta game or telling me about when he came off the bench and got ahat-trick.

He hasn't been brilliant and he hasn't been on the decline! he hasn't been brilliant because our team this season is :censored:. However, he has been one of our better players, even in the top 3 of all our players in the team.

What cocky remark? when did I slate Lucas? I'm pointing out that on here that people are exaggerating with the praise! He is good BUT NOT THAT GOOD!

Obviously Steven Gerrard isn't quite the player of 2/3 seasons ago, age does that you know. But it cannot be underestimated how vital he is now for this current re-building process, his experience and ability will be a big factor in helping the next generation of Pool players back hopefully to the summit of English football.

Sell Steven Gerrard-no way, not on your nelly.

1) we don't. end of. if you looked at NESV's track record when it comes to purchasing players with the Red Sox, you will understand that money isn't an issue when it comes to quality but that does not mean we should be paying over the odds for everyone. i was very happy with the way NESV handled the Charlie Adam and Torres issues. they were not willing to be ripped off and it is a nice change as previous managements in the past has continuously been ripped off especially when it comes to selling players.

2) going by your logic, the entire team should be sold as Gerrard has been one of the best players in a season where everyone, including Reina, has looked shaky.

3) those "assets" out there do not have the same influence as Gerrard. Gerrard and Carragher, more then anyone else would know what it means to be playing for Liverpool. if you're basing your opinion solely on his performances (which you claim to be bad) it is very shallow as Gerrard is an influence off the pitch too especially when you have the youth players aspiring to be like him. they are players out there who want to come here to play with Gerrard, not just replace him.

4) once again, i reiterate that we are not in any financial predicament. if there is a good player out there, NESV will buy him. i have this feeling you're under the impression that NESV is not willing to spend because Luis and Andy were bought more or less from the money from the Torres sale. however you need to take note that Luis Suarez's purchase was made even before the sale while they also moved quick enough to pay a ridiculous amount for a player, Andy Carroll, whom is fairly unproven in the BPL. NESV are a determined group as they have proven with BRS.

5) we have a fairly strong starting 11 to be honest. the only weak links would be the left back position and a right winger. if those 2 positions can be sorted out, then i would be happy. and we do not need a Messi or a Ronaldo or any household names Pablo. i would love to have a fairly unknown player coming in an becoming a major asset like Hyypia, Henchoz, and currently Meireles has/is proven/proving to be.

i dont think you could even consider selling Joe Cole, without even giving him a fair crack at the whip. when he's fit he offers far more than lucas, poulsen, Aquilani or that lot.

In fact i dont know what Lucas has done so well to keep getting picked every week in every game, he offers virtually nothing. no creativity, loses posession, not great at tackling and cant shoot.! ok he's played with a bit more effort, but i would still rate him as 4/10 for the season.

I can only think kenny has his hands tied till the transfer window
