This, this is why I despair !

There's nothing wrong with someone putting country before club. There is nothing wrong with ppl stating that the best match they've been to is an England match. Some ppl choose to take more pride in their country than their club, each to their own.

So lay off the lad, not everyone can live in Liverpool and sit in the KOP on those amazing European nites.

I choose to balance between club & country, and don't tell me that you won't be down the pub rejoicing in England's success if they hoist the World Cup.

:no

Think the problem might be the fact that this is an LFC forum not an England one, and the thread was started in LFC General discussion.
If anyone has greater feelings towards there national team then i am shocked but each to there own.
The fact that this is an LFC forum though means that when a thread is started about great memories from past games the replies should be LFC related.

Yeah I agree with that, but from what I read of that post, it sounds as tho Leon thought he'd have a go at the person for stating that they enjoyed an England match.

I was there when Markus Babbel made his return to football after his career and life threatening illness. It was southampton in the league cup 2002 it must have been we won 3 - 1 i remember the Kop chanting "theres only one markus babbel" and him acknowleging it by clapping his hands in the air whilst looking at the kop.

For a player as brilliant as he was in the trebble season to be cruely struck down with a mystery illness it must have been terrible.

You epitomise everything that is wrong with the glory hunting brigade that has latched onto this wonderful club since we started to get back to the heights of European and Domestic football.

There is everything wrong with putting England before Liverpool (which I do not think 2520 does for the record), and fans like you make me want to hurl.

How on earth, in a million years, in a month of Sundays, one Sunday when there is no mass, (and whatever other superlatives you can think of) can that shower of talent wasting, passionless, uninspiring, badly run and craply supported shower of shi.te that is England come anywhere near to LFC ?

Get a grip or get a new team.

Often don't agree with a lot of your stronger opinions Leon but I have to say you're spot on here lad.

How anybody who claims to be a red could possibly derive more pleasure from the success of that over-hyped bunch of under-acheivers than they could from the success of LFC is beyond me.

If there is anyone on this forum who could honestly say they would trade our day in Istanbul to see England lift the world cup I would honestly despair.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Stevie, Jamie and The big fella get their hands on the trophy, I am by no means anti-England but they will always come a poor second to Liverpool.

For the record...I'd have enjoyed Istanbul much more than Wembley if I'd been there, but I wasn't.  The truth is, it's easier to get tickets to significant England games than it is for significant Liverpool games (which is one reason I'm looking forward to a bigger stadium in Liverpool).  For me, it's not about choice because I don't realistically have any.  I have more passion for Liverpool FC than I do for England, but I enjoy the way the whole country comes together for national games too.  It just so happens, out of the games I've managed to get to, the most significant was an England game.

Excuse me, I don't support England, I support Mexico. I'll always balance between club and country, whether you like it or not.

However when the national team are playing like Mexico did in the World Cup than I shall do so, I've had some great times watching Mexico in recent times and I will continue to do so.

I have had good times watching my club play and my national team, if my national team was to hoist CONCACAF Gold Cup, Confederations Cup or the World Cup, I would rejoice in that triumph.

I don't see why someone who chooses to rejoice in England matches as well as Liverpool matches should be torn into about it. Some supporters choose to put country over club and some choose to do the opposite, it doesn't really matter to me. That's their choice.

Not every Liverpool fan will worship Liverpool like you, I certainly don't, Liverpool isn't my life and soul, I have other things in my life, Liverpool is no more than entertainment at the most, when they lose I don't get upset. When they win my day doesn't suddenly brighten up.

I'll always call my self a Liverpool fan but unlike you, my life doesn't evolve around football, sorry if that annoys you or makes you hurl, but that's my view on it.

You and people like you are the reason why oooters and wools and whatever other name people give them are ridiculed/disliked/hated by Scousers.

I understand the virtue of support from outside the city/county and even country, but you show why its just not the same.

A scouse red will ALWAYS love Liverpool more then anything else, some but NOT all OOTs and Wools might, but most just dont and NEVER EVER will get it.

The lack of passion you have makes me realise why so often you post rubbish.

It doesn't hurt when Liverpool lose, you are no fan.

Fairweather c@nt f'ck off and support no wrong word WATCH another team.

Oasis you're obsession with Mexico has gone too far mate, to compare them to Liverpool when you have no connection to Mexico (to my knowledge) is ridiculous.

It started as oyu thought Mexico were an outsider to win the World Cup, and with all the stick you got for it you;ve decided to becoem a full-blown Mexican fan?

You say "my nation"?! You're not even Mexican!

Sorry mate, i thought you were more intelligent than this, but that last post was pathetic.

You don't know anything about me and yet your'e posting like you know me.  :D

If you must know my father is Mexican, therefore I do have a connection. I've always been brought up to respect and acknowledge my roots.

And if you must know, I've watched Mexico for years, it wasn't until a good decade ago, I started to get deeply interested in Mexican football.

I suggest in future you get you're facts correct.  :no
