Whatever Johnson has been elsewhere or is for England bottom line is Kelly has done a better job at right back for us and thats what we judge people on and why the lads in that position. Johnsons filling a weak position just to get a run these days.If Aurelio was all that he would be playing left back but hes isnt so we are covering it best we can.

No hes done a better job then an out of form Johnson.  When Johnson's at his best im sorry but Kelly doesnt come close to him.

thats the odd of hitting a jackpot.

we need a consistent winner like Kelly, no once in a mil-chance hay hitter.

There are times when I see Kelly get the ball in very good attacking positions and I think to myself if Johnson was in that same position he would have created so much more, but Kelly has benefited from getting this recent run of games in an entirely different Liverpool side with much more energy and positivity surrounding it.  I still would like to see Glen out on the right for us in our new found form, I think he would be immense but at the moment Kelly doesn't warrant getting replaced so we'll have to settle with what we've got... which isn't a bad thing by the way.

The problem with Kelly sometimes that he is very negative in his attacking play, for example today every time the ball ended up with Kelly, he would pass it backwards rather than forward, which basically let us build our momentum from the beginning. However, Johnson is better in that area, he is always forward (he forgets he is a defender  :D ), plays the ball forward, beats his man and can chip in a few goals. Kelly is a better defender though.

You have to remember that Kelly is a CB first choice so if we bring Johnson back on the right then we'll have a plethora of centre-backs and no-one on the left!! (bar an ageing aurellio)
joey ate the frogs legs
made the swiss roll
now he's munching gladback

Johnson shown that in a few occasions late in the game vs wigan that we need a genuine left back,
he couldnt cross the ball even when present with the chance.

somehow someway this season he is playing better on the left then on the right. i do not mind the fact that Kelly is not as good an attacking player as Johnson is. who cares? a defender's main job is to defend and if you can't do that, don't bother. let the midfielders and attackers deal with the attacks. rather be safe than sorry especially considering how we have an ageing Carragher who would be having a hard time covering for Johnson if or when one of his forays into the opposition's area fails and they begin a counter attack.

We have conceded 1 (offside) goal in 5 games (???) so we can't really pick holes in the defence.

Kelly is a better defender than Johnson and no one can argue with that. Johnson has done a decent job at LB to fill in but isn't a natural RB, granted. Kelly's preferred position is CB but with return of Carra + the return to form of Skrtel will make it very difficult for him to play at CB so for the time being we have to settle for what we have. I am not sure what will happen in the summer when we bring in a new LB as it will leave us with Kelly and Johnson as options for RB. Good problem to have mind!!

If Johnson didn't have a stupid f*ckin clause in his contract then he could play in a more advanced role at RM with Kelly behind him (solid or what) but that won't happen.

If Kelly keep his place in the team and keeps progressing then Kenny should stick with him. That might see Johnson surplus to requirements but with Maureen keen on him he could be used a makeweight for a move for Benzema
:) :)

A fellow supporter. He has a clause written in that said he can only play 'fullback' so that he gives himself the best chance of retaining his international spot.

Apparently Rafa agreed to the term when he signed him  ???

Good point however i dont think Johnson has been a hit and miss performer for us, he was excellent for a long time until the start of this season, it seems like hes had more then afew blips but alot of them were down to him coming back from injury and finding his feet. The lads been a good for us since kenny came in especially playing out of position so i wouldnt be to displeased if he went back to right back if we get in a new LB in the summer.

Not knocking Kelly i think hes been excellent for us and deserves his place in the team.

He was a bit off in attack but he played very very well, he hasn't had any defensive errors in a very long time now.. Top player.
