Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

GYBS wrote:The point i was making Sabre is no one makes anyone have a bet , or start taking drugs or start drinking when the whole world knows the risks and it can become a serious addiction so the choices are their own to make and they make them and must live with the consequences of their actions . My mate started taking drugs cause he said it was a laugh - i warned him about the risks but he said he wasnt worried - two years down the line he is an addict with no money and a mess . All through his own actions .

Some people no doubt start in on gambling or drugs or drink for the fun of it and then it spirals out of control but, as Dr. Pepe said, some also do it to cope with things like depression.  I don't think it's particularly fair to assume that all people who are addicts started their habits on a lark and have simply p!ssed their life away.  There are often deeper issues than that, mate.

But there is plenty of people in the world that get through many things withouot resorting to drugs gambling etc - I would say it is a higher percentage of people who get addicted through recreation of thier own choice as opposed to using it to cope with things. Can understand people who get addicted to prescription drugs that they have been given to help with medical issues and you can see they arent at fault - But people who use heroin ? cocaine ? Speed etc - is that not through their own choice and do they not know that it will make things worse - same with gambling and drinking .

Am not particulaly bothered as to whether its Didi's own fault etc etc etc.

At the end of the day i think he was a top man and is an lfc legend so if he is going through a bad time regardless of whether it may be his won fault i have lots of sympathy for him.

Funnily enough i seen him in the bookies on old hall street about 3 years back when he was injured, it was the middle of the afternoon and he was standing there (in plaster i think).

Footballers whether they earn sh!tloads of money or not are still prone to the same addictions as other people.

The fact that he has wasted even more money would be even harder to swallow probably.

I also have seen him in the local bookies when he was in his final season playing for us i would often see him in Ladbrookes.....too much time on his hands...and too much money if the lid was lifted off footballers gambling habbits then quite a few would be in the same boat.

I was wondering who Del boy sold those two blow up dolls to.

Now it's been cleared.
