Even if it wasn't a trip to Israel, wouldnt you want to save the money for a more advanced stage?

I guess the game will be played in Tel Aviv and not in Haifa. The stadium has about 50,000 seats,
and I guess that at least 10,000 will support Liverpool.
I hope all LFC fans will come.
Last year Ireland played here in the world cup and about 5,000 fans came and had so much fun. all the pubs were packed with the green army ....
Also England will play here on March 2007, in the euro qualefying ...

Yeah, Chelsea drew them in the UEFA Cup a few years back and most of the senior players refused to travel.

I don't know a lot about these to be honest, apart from the fact that they thumped an understrength manure side 3-0 in the CL a few years back. If I'm not mistaken, Yakubu used to play for them aswell?

Yep Yakubo playd in Haifa before coming to England.
Also the great ronnie rosenthal ....
Yossi Benayun from West ham is also from Haifa ....
The had a good team, but I think they will not be ready in two weeks. a few players left, and they still mising a few spots (like left back and much more ...)

happy with the draw. the venue is a different matter...though id reckon on it being played in cyprus. the foreign office already advise against travelling to northern israel. so hopefully 'non-essential' business includes football as well. in any case this wont be over for weeks yet, even if the away leg is end of august, youd hope common sense would come into it somehow  ??? there again....

as for maccabi haifa- decent side no doubt, but out of their depth against liverpool. for one minute there, it looked destined to be fenerbahce!.  arsenal have a tricky one as well.

chins up lads.  :;):

and about Chel$ki ....
They drew Hapoel Tel Aviv a few years ago. 4 or 5 players didn't come to the game ...
Hapoel beat them 2-0 in Tel aviv, and drew 1-1 in stamford ....
Later, Hapoel beat Moscow, Parma, and lost to Milan in the Quarter final ....

I have a question for all U Liverpool fans ....
How would you feel if after July 7th last year, teams would refuse to play in London or even in England, saying it is dengerous out there ???
Same with Madrid. Same with New York ......

Terror is a global problem. Not coming to play in Israel will be a prize for the terrorists !

I live, and work in Tel Aviv. You can trust me, there are no problems here!
The fighting in the north is 200 kilometers from us. Life in Tel Aviv is normal.
Those who will come will enjoy ! trust me on this one ....

Oh.... that isn't exactly good news since it'll be a long haul away trip in between Premiership games (Sheff Utd away, West Ham home).

[sorry for my bad english]
Im a haifa fan.. the game will take place at tel aviv bloomfield or ramat gan stedium.
maccabi haifa lost some very importent players like idan tal that joined bolton, arik benado that left.
some new good players joined [like yaniv katan returning from westham] but still no match for liverpool :<
