thats a great draw, i was hoping we`d get hearts just because at least there would be a bit of interest in the game.
no disrespect to some of the other clubs but it`s hard to raise your interest levels when your playing someone you`ve never heard of.
we wont want to get beat by a scottish club.

it will be interesting to see what side brendan puts out in this, the owners made it pretty clear when kenny was shown the door that the league should be prioritised above everything else.
because of the debacle against west brom the city game becomes even more significant, 2 losses on the bounce with arsenal and united on the horizon would be a nightmare start, with that in mind i think he will give a lot of the fringe players a game and leave the majority of the first teamers back in liverpool.
personally, instead of picking the usual suspects like carragher and spearing i`d like to see him go with a younger more attack minded line up, i`d like to see  the likes of assaidi, suso and sterling being given a run out.
if hearts have a good night on thursday and beat our second string then brendan can wheel out the big guns like suarez for the return leg at anfield to repair any damage.
i`d like to see us line up like this -

                                                                                                         reina (c)

                                                           flannagan                       kelly           coates                    robinson

                                                                            shelvey               henderson              suso

                                                                           sterling                  carroll                  assaidi

i think that side has a good balance, even though you have flair players like sterling, suso and assaidi in the side, with the likes of carroll, coates, kelly, flanno (he loves a tackle) and shelvey (so does he) you still have enough of a physical presence to combat any rough stuff if hearts want to go down that route. infact it would be interesting to see suso whipping corners and free kicks in to the likes of carroll, coates and kelly, plenty of prem sides would struggle to deal with that.

unless the week off is for personal reasons (like an illness in the family or something) i`m sure he`d return if it meant him starting in a european game.
outside of pre season opportunities for young players to impress the manager are few and far between.

Because he played non stop throughout the summer and went straight from the Youth Tournament to the Tour when he was supposed to have a week off. He flew back to Spain today and flys back on Thursday

A further example of how pathetic footballers are.

You get Soldiers who spent 6 months in Afghanistan, often engaged in fire fights lasting several hours and then you get this fella who plays an hour-and-a-half's woth of football once or twice a week and he needs a holiday, please...

That makes a lot more than footballers pathetic - its a bit of an unfair comparison .

The guy didn't have an off season so he is having his break now.

You can compare every job to military and you can say many are pathetic.
