Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

We just need to keep on winning.

City put United away but so did we and they don't always turn up to the party.

If we stay third its still one hell of an effort and I think that will be the worst case scenario
for us now.

With Neverton now chasing 4th spot the game b/w Arsenal vs Man City takes much, much bigger proportions for the Gooners.

Hopefully they can beat City and Neverton beat City in a few weeks time at Woodison.

Finishing 3rd would be a fantastic acheivement and a win tonight will put us comfortably ahead of Arsenal.

However, the longer we are in the race, the more i start to think we could actually win it...

The best thing about this season is that we have nothing to lose except champions league qualification which was our no 1 priority & target set pre-season. Technically we still have a lot of work left to do to achieve qualification. The only teams that have lots to lose are Man City & Chelsea who have invested heavily in their squads so expect to win the title.

Happy to ride the waves, remain the underdogs and take each game as it comes.

If Man City draw 2 games and lose/draw with us then we finish above them. If we beat chelsea we finish above them.

it's that close

If we beat City we only need them to draw one of their other remaining games to go above them.
Hopefully Arsenal can take something off them this weekend, if Arsenal don't do it then realistically the only other team that might take points off them is Everton. City play both of them away from home.

it's still a tall order (I can't see City dropping points) but as long as we keep pushing then we've got a chance. I have to say, casting an eye on Chelsea forums, I love how rattled the chavs are

Their fans really aren't happy about our title charge and aren't looking forward to their visit to Anfield

City will lose points for sure. I'm more concerned whether we can keep this run up. 14 wins in a row just seems too much to me. But at least we're trying to the very end, so if we go down it won't be without a fight.

if manu won the champs league and we end up fourth, are we out of the competition?
i am not counting my eggs yet as we were in similar situation 2005, no one gave us a chance to win champs league too.

Arsenal hold the record with 13 and that goes way back into the eighties and possibly before!! Chelsea have had 10 and United 11 during the same period I THINK. I think we can afford to drop a couple of points providing there not against City and Chelsea. I don't think we will need to win 14 in a row. I just hope I'm right. Nerves are shot. What a season.

Oksy - yes we would be out. We only have 4 qualifying places whatever happens. Absolute nightmare situation. Just hope Bayern give them a good kicking on Tuesday. Arsenal Everton and Spurs must also be hoping for the same. We however do look quite good for 3rd unless we blow up!

I do also.

My in laws are Arsenal supporters. Nothing would make me happier than having a year's worth of abuse about missing out on CL football.

Of course the best outcome would be for Everton to fail at the qualification stage again.

Regardless of how it finishes, we have got to be proud of how we've done this season.  I had us down for finishing 6th this season and possibly challenging for 4th.  Never did i think we'd have a possibility of the title with 7 games to go.

We've been brilliant to watch.  Sit back and we will find a way through your defence, attack us and we'll pick you off on the counter, score some goals and we'll score more.   :D

They must have been giving you a tough time all these while huh?  :p
If Everton wins, they will have a higher chance of holding on to Lukaku. Would rather see him at Everton than at Chelsea.
