Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet kept more Premier League clean sheets than anyone else in 2015

That's a staggering stat given the way we ended last season.
We didn't start this one too clever either, Brendan lost his job because of it.

I think  this just epitomises the criticism a goalkeeper receives when he makes a mistake. If a striker blazes the ball over the bar into row z then very little is said about it.  The extent of the criticism is usually from the crowd singing "What the fk-kinell was that?" But let's face it that rubbish shot could easily have made the difference to the result !! Basically a goalkeeper could have an absolutely brilliant match and make one catastrophic mistake that has a damning effect on the results and he will be castigated and accused of being absolutely useless !! Bloomin hard life being a goalie especially with some of the fans on this forum

Once again I find myself agreeing 100% with Devaney, Migs is not a sh!t keeper. Look at the facts. he makes a couple of howlers over the season and suddenly the fact that he's kept the most clean sheets and he's a top top shot blocker go out of window.

I’m pretty sure I saw a stat flying around saying in 2015 he also made the most errors leading to goals amongst Premier League keepers?

He’s just another decent stay at home Premier League keeper like Begovic and Butland who is only comfortable when he’s on his line. What generally sets a keeper apart is his footwork, and I’m not talking about their passing ability. It’s their ability to move their feet quickly to get into position and catch or parry shots that the likes of Mignolet have to dive to reach and push away for a corner. It’s also being comfortable standing on the edge of your area so less space for balls over the top. You can only do this is you are light footed and back and forward quickly and turn well. Reina was a heavy man but he was really light footed.

There is no point swapping out the likes of Butland for Mignolet as we’ll have the same problems. Personally I prefer the “cat” like keepers. Our best keepers (Reina, Clemence and Grobbelaar) have been on the shorter side but had great footwork.

"Simon Mignolet has agreed a new contract with Liverpool.

The keeper will sign an extension to his current deal to keep him at Anfield until 2020, and earn in excess of £50,000 per week."

5. And. A. Half. f*cking. Years.

I have been a Mignolet defender, but my god we need better than him.

Well, he's a good keeper to have at no. 2. I doubt he would signed a new deal if we had bought another top class keeper. So hopefully we get a good one for once this summer, and we have him and Miggy go for it for the no. 1 slot

fantastic shot stopper, but limited in the air.... I have seen him bellowing at the defence to organise them which is an improvement too. I am not ready to give up on him, but if we could get Butland in I would show him the door in part exchange.

So fed up with all the mistakes made by this keeper, awarded a new 5 year deal and flapping at balls, letting in goals at near post

I would bench him and give Danny Ward his chance

Don't care if people want to attack me for not supporting one of our players, but the guy is holding us back - big time -

Every team in the country regards him as our Achilles heel and they base their game plans around him.

Bench the **** and promote Danny Ward

Bogdan had his chance and failed, Mignolet has had a good 10 chances at least, let's give Danny a go

Absolute liability, yet he's been rewarded with a new deal, he is atrocious, you can see teams licking their lips when they get a corner against us. He cost us tonight and he will continue to cost us again and again and again, the team have no faith him in him, the fans don't yet we persist with him, he simply must be replaced, it's essential.
