SIMON MIGNOLET- Official thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby RED BEERGOGGLES » Tue Dec 15, 2015 7:46 pm

Short memories some people ,I prefer to applaud some fine shot blocking and flying saves to keep us in countless games ,and in times when our defence was as effective as a sieve holding water.

Think on lads  ???

Even though he flapped and failed to make contact, there was still time to clear the ball from the danger area.
If Mignolet is guilty, so is Clyne...

Mignolet at stopping shots - 8-9
Mignolet at commanding the area and dealing with crosses - 1-2
Mignolet with the ball at his feet - 3-4

Good enough - doubtful

Goal keepers will ALWAYS get stick for making mistakes, but the fact that Mignolet has been the worst premier league player (in any position) for gifting goals tells a sorry tale.

All things considered the lads been given a real crack at it with us and can have no complaints if the club make a change.

Be in his third year shortly and thats time enough to stop criticism and speculation about the position by becoming a top class keeper at Liverpool.

Maybe we should buy back reina.

Really, if we want to squeeze ourselves into 4th place now and then, then maybe Mignolet is good enough. But if we want to strife for being regular title challengers, we've got to upgrade in the goalkeeper department.

Migs needs to be upgraded, no doubt now. But who? The young Germans will be just as raw.

We need 2-3 consistent top 4 finishes before we can start dreaming of the title.

He is error prone and far too rash in his decision making. His best stuff is when its spontaneous and no time to use his brain because when he does the mistakes just keep coming and silly schoolboy one's at that.
He has conceded goals like that before, where he just run's off his line into a crowd and fails to get off his feet. Everything is to his advantage in those situations but he has no timing. He could have cost us again shortly after that when he ran out to prevent a throw.

He is getting a bit of stick but its of his own doing as the dust hadn't fully settled after his last clanger. Imo we need to sign another keeper who is better than him.
There doesn't look to be a whole lot going in that head of his if I'm honest.

Crazy thing, a fact is a fact (ask Rafa), taking into account all his flapping....

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet kept more Premier League clean sheets than anyone else in 2015

That's a staggering stat given the way we ended last season.
We didn't start this one too clever either, Brendan lost his job because of it.

Danny Ward is being recalled from his loan from Aberdeen, it was printed in local Scottish press who also say Mignolet is injured and is why he missed the Exeter match and was not even on the bench
