You're wondering
"why people dismiss a domestic trophy ?"
is that an attempt to insinuate that the league cup carries the same Kudos as the FA Cup or the Premiership trophies. I've never heard anyone dismiss a Premiership or FA cup trophy, I have however heard countless fans dismiss the importance of the League aka "Milk" cup, unless of course they've won it.
I have no problem with people who want to verbally polish our winning of a 4th tier trophy as some kind of major achievement, knocking out Man City along the way was certainly worth praise but lets face it in a world game we picked up a winners medal in the final of what can only be considered the most unimportant of all our regional contests, one that more than half of the football fans in this country couldn't be bothered to watch, hardly something that I personally mark as some kind of great accomplishment.
The league cup carries as much kudos as you want - i have no way insinuate its as important as anything
We started the season where we had a chance to win three trophies - we won one , got to a final of another and was very disappointing in another
Now the season overall has been disappointing but with some silver lining including going to Wembley twice - winning our first trophy in 6 years and losing another final.
I dont give two flying shits if half the countries fans couldnt be bothered to watch it - the only fans that mattered or our own fans and the day at Wembley was fantastic and i loved every minute of it . You try dismissing the trophy as 4th rate to the fans who where there that day . You also try telling that to the players who picked up medals that day
