I'm assuming Chelsea offered £80m and were offering high agent fees off of the books abit like City did with Haaland to stay under FFP rules.

Thats why Caicedos agent is set on and pushing the Chelsea deal.

What we've done with the bid is force Chelsea to spend money they probably can't because of FFP, and we'll look more attractive to Brighton as we're giving money directly to their club. Basically we're making Chelsea probably pay £50m more than they wanted to do.

Shame if we miss out, Chelsea have been fighting for his signature for a while and he has set his heart on them. I preferred him over Lavia.

A bit embarrassing if this is how it is, we should have figured this out behind the scenes. Surely MacAllister has his phone number since he played with him last year

If we were "allegedly" going to splash 110M, might aswel get Lavia for 50M and get another CB for 50 or so.

The club must think Lavia at £50m is a risk that might not work out.

With Caicedo you know you're getting a class player already.

I’m not having that FSG we’re prepared to break the British transfer record, not without selling one of our best players anyway. One minute they are baulking at the idea of ponying up an extra £4m for Lavia the next they are giving it large.
Surely before you spend that type of fee on a player you’d bother to find out wether he wants to join you first as well.

Yes does seem a bit strange we are bidding huge sum without selling a major player.

It's an embarrassment at this stage

It's mad isn't it and if our transfer strategy is look like we havent a clue then it's going well.

Not sure where they were going to pull the money for this from either but it's never straightforward with FSG.  They wouldn't pay it for Jude so why now pay more for Caiceido. Why did they not sound out the player and see where his head is at before launching a record bid at the 12th hour. We had all summer to throw our hat in the ring and if we did then we would have known what his 1st choice was.  We sound out every player beforehand so bizarre why we didn't here. .

Who gets the blame though ? The new D.O.F on a 3 month contract!!

We could be playing games.. Chelsea bid £48m for Lavia a couple of days after we had a £45m bid rejected.

Instead of countering that we've offered £111m on a player Chelsea had just had a £80m bid rejected.

It's like they've forced the transfer fee up for Lavia, so we've gone and done the same thing back with Caicedo at a much higher scale.

I'm not sure how serious we are we this Caicedo bid, but everyone's buying into it which is making Rival fans go mental with jealousy and its also making us believe we're actually ready to spend some money.


Could be another FSG distraction.

There are so many things that just don’t add up about this bid mate that it’s hard not to be both cynical and suspicious in equal measure. As Mark says it’s embarrassing at this point.

Ironic how all this drama with Lavia, Ceicedo and we face Chelsea first game lol.

What on earth is going on with this transfer?

If the rumours of him wanting to go to the chavs are true, we should walk away. Don't need any one here who isn't willing to bleed for thr shirt.

Apparently Chelsea close to agreement with Lavia.
