Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Lowballing again with Lavia rather than getting the deal over the line or moving quickly for an alternative.

Is a 19yr old with a handful of PL league games to his name really the only option out there?

This whole transfer window has shown once again that FSG have no ambition to win the PL or CL again - top 4 is their holy grail- the coffers filling up and their asset value increasing is their priority. Success on the pitch is incidental for them. Any claims to the contrary are delusional at best.
We are wasting the final years of arguably the best manager we have had and defo the current world's best IMO.

The danger now is LFC have put all their eggs in one basket and assuming we do pay up for the lad, what if he bottles it? We need to go back a top class midfielder to pull this young team together.

Our persistence shows that Klopp really wants him, if that is the case just give the extra 4M, current bid is 46M but they want 50. If we don't get him then lads we won't get anyone else. There doesn't seem to be a contingency plan. If Lavia turns out to be class the 4 extra mill will be well worth it.

He is very quick and I think that is exactly what we need to snuff out those balls over the top, I don’t think you can bottle it when pace is what’s needed. It embarrassing how long this has gone on. As Carra says, if he’s worth it then pay up and if he isn’t then move on. I’m sure Southampton are being difficult from our past dealings with them, still….. just pay what they want, the difference is minimal in the big picture.

The Lavia situation is embarrassing tbh. I doubt we will go back with the 50 mil as they won't want to lose face by caving in to Southampton. Other clubs will take note if we do so it's a poor situation of our own making. Honestly don't know why we dragged the summer out of this if we were never going to match the asking price.

We really are underdogs going into this campaign and our goal is only 4th place.   They really don't deserve to own a club of this status.

I mean no offence but the way you deflect from the legitimate issues people bring up here with regards to our transfer business and almost turn it around on them almost suggests you are on the FSG payroll.

Yes we have what 3 weeks or so of the window left but those with concerns have legitimate concerns with where we currently are IMHO.

The window closes on 1st September, in 14 days.
Liverpool's game against the Chavs is in 5 days.
How d'you expect anyone coming in now to be prepared and ready?
Crazy.

The manager spoke about how important pre season was and new players getting that time to adjust was crucial. We all knew and seen the downfall from last season and can see that we have failed to address a lot of it 5 days out from our 1st game.

It's a football forum at the end of the day for people to express their views. Agree or not but that's what it's here for and who would want to be on a discussion board where everyone agreed all the time anyway. Hopefully this place will pick up again over the coming season and get back to what it used to be and different opinions will help that.

Hey Red, I wasn't saying you're crazy, I'm saying LFC are crazy leaving it so late to buy the players we need. Freakin' crazy, the first few weeks are critical and we're up against top 4 contenders.

Exactly. We showed the same concerns the last transfer window and we were proven right. What are our ambitions going forward as a club? To level the books like Arsenal did for 10 years and win a few FA Cups? Or to take a few gambles and really go challange for the League and European trophies?

Because we have no valuable players left to sell at this stage so if we're just balancing the books, then it's gonna be a long depressing time ahead of us with FSG staying here.

I don’t know if I’m missing something but according to this we have been spending about 50 million per year (net spend).

We spent 80m on Nunez, we also bought Gakpo for 40m, Diaz for about 40m, Konate for around 40m, Szoboszlai for around 70m, Van Dyke for 75m, Mac Allister for 40m, Allison for about 70m and all these deals were done relatively quickly from my memory, or at least it wasn’t delayed due to haggling.

I think there is more to this deal taking so long other than the team being cheap. It seems that when we want a player we get the deal done. I cannot believe we are getting hung up on 5m as the history of the club says different. There must be something else going on behind the scenes. Since we bought two midfielders we lost another two unexpectedly and brought in 52m for those two, we were already looking at a DM before Fabinho left. These owners happily spend what they bring in (the whole net spend argument) and they were already looking at another midfielder so the budget must be there, and now another 52m has been added to that.

I’m not on FSG’s payroll   I’m just trying to see it without emotion.

Maybe and there's a very good chance this is it = the right players simply aren't available.

Maybe the club isn't doing a good enough job? Why is it that Brighton seem to unearth a gem or two each year?
