Stoke City have joined the race for Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, amid reported interest from the likes of Liverpool and Inter Milan.

Shaqiri, 23, appears likely to leave the Bundesliga champions during the January transfer window, having become frustrated with his lack of playing time with only three league starts in the first half of the season.

The Switzerland international considered his future last summer, but claimed Bayern turned down a 20 million-euro offer from Liverpool.

"Things could move fast now," Eddin Shaqiri, Xherdan's agent and brother, told 20 minutes.

"On the other hand we have until Jan. 31 to find a solution."

According to the Swiss paper several clubs from Premier League and Serie A are interested in signing the midfielder - "not only Inter Milan and Liverpool," the paper said.

Speaking to BBC Radio on Tuesday, Stoke's assistant manager Mark Bowen confirmed the Potters are interested in the midfielder.

"He's definitely on the list, but there is competition for a player of his ability," Bowen said in quotes reported by the Stoke Sentinel. "There are other clubs interested, but it doesn't mean we rule ourselves out."

Bowen added that the summer addition of Bojan Krkic, 24, made the club more attractive and could lead to Shaqiri opting for the Premier League side. "It's bound to help and it does help," he said.

"But there's many boxes to tick, not least the financial side of it, and with Shaqiri coming from one of the best, if not the best, clubs in the world, there's a lot of persuasion to get it over the line."

Meanwhile, Tuttosport have reported that Inter Milan are set to meet with Bayern representatives as well as Shaqiri's agent in Munich on Wednesday to discuss a potential loan deal until the end of the season.

The Italian club could offer two million euros and also hope to include a 13 million-euro buy option in the contract, the paper reported.

Liverpool target Ezequiel Lavezzi ould be on his way to Anfield after falling out of favour with Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc.

Both Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani received punishment from the French club after returning four days late after the Christmas break.

The pair were fined and left to watch from the sidelines for the following two matches, reported ESPN, and Lavezzi could now be on his way out of the Parc des Princes.

The 29 year old is yet to impress this season in Ligue 1 - scoring just two goals in 670 minutes and no goals to his name in the Champions League, but Liverpool remain interested.

The Argentina international is likely to cost around the slight fee of £8m - and Liverpool boss needs to act soon if he wants to land the forward with Spanish side Valencia also keen, reports the Express.

The Reds have also been linked with strikers Karim Benzema and Xherdan Shaqiri in the transfer window.

This lad is a waster, If he was that desperate for gametime he would have secured his move before now.
Besides did he not sign an extension with bayern last summer ?

Liverpool are set to put Manchester City midfielder, James Milner top of their wish list, according to The Times. Milner, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, has recently seen negotiations over a new contract breakdown with Manchester City.

Liverpool now lead the chase for the England international, as they start to prepare for life without Steven Gerrard. Due to his contract running out at the end of the season, if Milner isn’t able to come to an agreement with City, he will be available to be snapped up on a free transfer.

The 29 year-old has been reportedly attracting the Reds for a while now, and his impressive form this season has evidently furthered their interest in the energetic midfielder. Clubs such as Arsenal, Inter Milan and AS Roma will also be keeping an eye on Milner’s contract situation.

Oliver Kay of The Times also states that Milner has told his teammates that it’s hugely unlikely he’ll be a City player beyond the contract’s expiry date in the summer. If true, it seems as if Milner is already planning and looking ahead to life outside of the Etihad Stadium, with Liverpool, as it stands, his most likely destination.

Liverpool are set to make a £23.5million bid for Roma star Miralem Pjanic as they plan for life after Steven Gerrard.

The Reds have identified pass-master Pjanic as an ideal replacement for Gerrard, and reports in Italy say a bid is set to go in for him in the coming days.

Brendan Rodgers is willing to dish out £23.5million for the Bosnian, and will also give Pjanic a contract worth £60,000-a-week.

The 24-year-old currently earns about £53,000-a-week, and has been looking for a pay rise, with Real Madrid also linked with a move.

too cheap on the salary. If we really want this lad we should try harder than a £7000 pw pay rise. Madrid will offer the same fee but pay him £80000 pw. we are quite frustrating sometimes.

I think LFC are interested, but as the Club are in a 'sell first, buy  later' situation, i wonder who they will off load.  Lucas I believe is staying for the time being (think this is a good thing), Ballo has been priced to high, no one is interested, Suso will likely go in the Summer and is looking for a pre contract else-where etc etc. Also, im not sure Pjanic is interested in coming to LFC (or England). Think Spain.........

I heard Manc City, PSG and maybe Totsh1te? are interested. However, City and PSG are both under the cosh with UEFA constraints (FFP). And like LFC, I don't think he'd be interested in going Totsh1te.   I'm sure Mwanck Utd approached Roma before bringing in LvG, but they seem to have dropped their interest?

Anyway, I think it would cost a lot more then £23.5 to get him from Roma in 'January'

Pjanic would be a great signing but no way are we buying him, if we bring someone in it will be in the £5m-£10m range, not the £20m-£30m

Yep, but also depends on the fact that LFC need to sell first (unfortunately)

Off topic, but lots of rumours that Suarez wants out of Barca, with Man City the likely destination...

Lots of rumours? I thought it was one article in one tabloid newspaper?
