Lots of rumours? I thought it was one article in one tabloid newspaper?

It's been in quite a few places actually, and its true to say that Barcalona are worried over LS's performances thus far. When the rebuilding starts there (summer), he could be one of the players making way to raise some cash. Remember Barcelona are currently banned from buying (can't remeber how long for), but they they can sell if they want to.

Paris Saint-Germain have run out of patience with Edinson Cavani and will sell the Uruguayan striker... but not until the summer.

Cavani - along with Ezequiel Lavezzi - was fined and dropped by PSG this week for failing to report to the club's mid-winter training camp in Morocco.

The former Napoli man has tried to downplay the seriousness of the situation by suggesting he was merely visiting friend German Fernandez ahead of his participation in the Doha Rally.

It has been claimed for some time that Cavani is unhappy at the Parc des Princes because he is often played out of position to accommodate star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Indeed, the Ligue 1 outfit will look to sell Cavani in the near future, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all linked in the past.

But PSG are reluctant to do business in Janaury and would prefer to wait until the summer to sanction the player's departure.

oh, c'mon. you cant for one minute think they'd sell suarez if they cant buy a replacement for him?! - Re-building wont start in the summer because they can't build. The ban is for two windows - this January and the summer. If players aren't working out, they'll keep them for another year at least as they cant buy a replacement

I'm not saying it will happen, but yep, he may well be one of the players let go, he is  dispensable and they need  the money. Remember they have board elections coming up soon, and Messi is messing around so that it (elections) happen quicker. As a result of these elections, it is expected that a lot will change at the Club. This means players being moved on, and this includes LS, one of the reasons for this is the fact that he hasn't hit the ground running like everyone had expected, and, i'm not sure he gets on that well with Messi.

back to our problem, we are not being linked to many players in this window that I feel will help us. a top keeper and a player that can put the ball in the net.

Unfortunately that is the case RTID. The vast amounts spent last summer had to be spot on, but wasn't.  There is no money in the pot, and the situation right now is a 'sell first, then buy'. As mentioned earlier, Lucas looks likely to stay for the time being, imo, a good thing. Ballo is priced to high so no one is interested, and Suso may go in the Summer? I think he is looking to sign a pre contract somewhere.  LFC are still looking at GK's, but if anything, looking to a pre contract with a GK for next summer, btw, Neto and Ochoa are not good enough for LFC. Good shot stoppers, yes, but not really much else, and Ruddy, lets not go there..... :)

Liverpool could land Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain six months earlier than planned.

The Reds know a £30million bid will trigger Higuain's release clause and initially wanted to land the star next summer, but now look set secure the deal before the end of January.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez today wrapped up the signing of Sampdoria frontman Manolo Gabbiadini for £11million - creating further competition among his strikers.

And with the club under pressure from Financial Fair Play to keep the books balanced, they may have to offload a forward to make room for Gabbiadini.

And that player looks set to be Higuain, who is expected to force a move away from the Serie A club in June at any rate.

Benitez has already had to fend off speculation Higuain cannot play alongside fellow striker Duvan Zapata, while the club also boast attacking talents Jose Callejon, Lorenzo Insigne, Michu and Dries Mertens.

"Can Higuain and Zapata play together? Yes, it's a possibility and we did that a few times during games, but it can be an option when starting too," Benitez said last month.

Napoli also today confirmed the signing of Ivan Strinic. The left-back arrived from Dnipro.

agree with the premise (never said I didn't) - it's the timing. Transfer ban is for next two windows. IF Suarez does leave - it DEFINATELY wont be this month and DEFINATELY not in the summer. He wont be sold until they can buy a replacement

To be honest, Suarez was the striker they didn't need. Barca could easily survive without him...but doubt he'll leave.

Liverpool have moved a step closer to signing Gonzalo Higuain after Napoli signed Manolo Gabbiadini as a potential replacement.

The Reds are understood to have wanted to bring the 27-year-old Argentinian hit man to Anfield in the summer, and reportedly have him as a top target this month.

And with former boss Rafael Benitez snapping up the services of forward Gabbiadini from Serie A rivals Sampdoria, the possibility of Higuain moving to Anfield has edged closer.

A bid in the region of £30 million would trigger the player's release cause, and with Liverpool currently struggling for goals in the striking department, it could be money the club are willing to part with - especially for a marksman who has hit 13 goals for the Naples side this season.

Such a deal could also go through sooner than expected as the Italian side are under pressure to balance the books in order to meet Financial Fair Play requirements.

Aston Villa are preparing to fight off a £7.5million bid from Liverpool to make Fabian Delph the successor to Steven Gerrard.

Boss Brendan Rodgers had accepted that Villa's determination not to sell their midfield driving force in January would mean he'd have to wait until the summer.

But Villa chiefs believe Gerrard's decision to move to America has changed the picture and a bid could now come in the next two weeks.

Liverpool see the tough-tackling and highly mobile 25-year-old, who has forced his way into Roy Hodgson's England team, as a natural replacement for Gerrard.

While their original plan was to get him in the summer for free when his current Villa contract runs out, they now want remove any risk of missing out by getting the deal done.

Spurs are also keen to land the former Leeds star.

Signing Delph this month would make him available for Liverpool's Europa League tie against Besiktas.

Doubt this will happen, anyway LFC are in a sell first, then buy situation right now, and besides, I think he is inconsistent. On another note, a replacement for SG imo should come from within the Club, Rossiter I reckon. Come on BR, do your duty and give the youngsters a chance.
