Liverpool and Tottenham have turned their attention to Birmingham forward Demarai Gray after cooling their interest in West Brom’s Saido Berahino.

Gray has captured widespread interest from Premier League clubs and has become the Championship’s hottest young property with his displays this season.

And with West Brom looking for more than £20million for Berahino, Gray – at £5m – is seen as being far better value for money.

But there could be competition for the 18-year-old winger from Arsenal, Newcastle and Everton, who have also sent scouts to keep tabs on him.

A recent hat-trick against Reading thrust him even more into the spotlight.

So far the only bid for Gray has come from fellow Championship side Bournemouth, whose top offer of £2m was flatly rejected.

The Midlands club insist they are in no rush to sell him but, if an auction develops as the big guns’ interest grows, a £5m bid could secure the deal.

Saido Berahino has refused to rule out a move away from West Brom amidst reported interest from Liverpool.

The Reds are believed to be interested in acquiring the 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a stunning season to date, netting 13 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions, including a strike against Hull City on Saturday.

And the England U21 striker has made no effort to play down the speculation, despite admitting that he is enjoying his time at the Hawthorns.

"I'm playing, I can't complain," he told reporters. "I'm starting to score goals again, which I'm enjoying. That's as far as it goes.

"Obviously I've got big ambitions, but at the moment I'm a West Brom player and I'm enjoying my football.

"There are always rumours going around, but I can't control anything. The only thing I can control is what I do on the field."

Manager Tony Pulis has previously spoken of his desire to retain Berahino's services, but he concedes that a huge bid would see the Baggies do business.

"You can't say no because if someone comes in with an absolutely stupid offer then you look ridiculous by saying no," Pulis said. "But I'd absolutely delighted if the kid stays.

"What we need to do is to add to that position and three or four other positions, to have a real run at staying at this league."

I really hope we are going for Higuain... didn't like him that much last time. But his record now shows he's a consistent scorer.

Brendan Rodgers will have to pay £2million to snatch Fiorentina keeper Norberto Neto in January.

Juventus believe they have a verbal agreement to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian on a free in the summer when his contract expires.

But Fiorentina may cut their losses and sell now.

Mirror Sport revealed last week that Neto was on Liverpool's wish list as they look for competition for Simon Mignolet and Brad Jones - but they are being quoted a big price as they look to strengthen their keeper department.

Neto would be up against Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus where he is being offered £1.5m a year.

The wages would unlikely to be a problem for Liverpool but they must move quick to land him.

Liverpool have set their sights on either Everton's Ross Barkley or Roma's Miralem Pjanic as a possible replacement for Steven Gerrard.

The former England skipper has announced his plan to join MLS giants LA Galaxy when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Barkley is the natural successor of Gerrard, despite the Merseyside rivalry, as he is seen as the future of English football.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park since the summer, with Manchester City, United, Chelsea and Liverpool all showing an interest.

The Toffees have slapped a £60m price tag on the England international, but that hasn't deterred Brendan Rodgers' intention to bring him to Anfield next summer.

The Reds are also reportedly keeping tabs on Bosnian playmaker Pjanic, but only see him as a back-up if they fail in their bid for Barkley.

Roma are looking to keep hold of the 24-year-old, but - according to reports in Italy - the Serie A club couldn't say no to offers close to £23.5m.

Liverpool and Arsenal will have to act fast if they want to beat Juventus to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to the player's agent.

Mkhitaryan has been a disappointment at Borussia Dortmund this season and fallen out of favour with Jurgen Klopp.

And reports in Italy suggest the Armenian could be on his way to Juve this month, despite previously being linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, Mino Raiola, who represents Mkhitaryan believes Dortmund may not want to let the player go despite his struggles this term.

Raiola told Radio Anch'io Sport: "He's an extraordinary footballer, on both a technical and professional level.

"He grew up in Armenia, then moved to Shakhtar Donetsk. He can create assists and goals, he's useful to a team.

"He's suitable for Juve, he can be part of one of the top 10 teams in the world.

"However, it's difficult to see Borussia Dortmund letting him go, but he could bring something extra to the Italian League.

"We'll see if he can get to Serie A."

NEVER see this happening in a million years, but would over the moon if it did !!!

Liverpool are reportedly hot on the heels of Everton youngster Ross Barkley, seen by Brendan Rodgers as an ideal replacement for exit-bound Steven Gerrard, and the Anfield side are reportedly not concerned about the England man's £60m price-tag according to the Daily Express.

The 21 year old is considered, rightly, as one of the hottest prospects in European football though Everton's £60m valuation is perhaps a tad steep.

That price-tag has apparently not deterred Rodgers from keeping tabs on the midfielder though clearly a move between the two clubs would be a contentious one for Barkley to consider.

Barkley is already into his fifth season in the Everton first-team set-up and one imagines that given his side's poor standing there is a chance he would pursue a move away from Goodison Park.

Chelsea and Man City are both known to be keen on Barkley and both arguably far more likely to come up with the funds if any bidding war ensued.

Barkley would be an incredible signing but as you say mate there's absolutely no chance of it happening. Even if we had the money to outbid the likes of City, Chelsea and United (which we don't) why would the lad want to rile up all the Everton fans by coming here?
He'd have a much easier life and probably win and earn a lot more at somewhere like City.

Lyon have issued a hands-off warning to Arsenal and Liverpool over star striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The France international is leading the goal-scoring charts in Ligue 1 this season, fuelling speculation that he could be heading to the Premier League in a £15million deal this month.

Lacazette has scored a sensational 22 goals in 26 appearances over all competitions, and has previously admitted that he would jump at the chance to ply his trade in England.

Manchester City have also been credited with showing an interest in the 23-year-old, but with a £28m deal for Swansea's Wilfried Bony on the verge of completion, Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers have been left to battle it out for Lacazette's signature.

However, in an interview with Bein Sports, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas denied reports that the Citizens held talks to sign their star asset, and warned any interested parties that Lacazette will be going nowhere this winter.

Aulas said: "I don't think there will be any movement for [Lacazette]. Our goal is to become a top European club in the next give years, and that's why we don't want to sell him.

"I spoke with Man City, but it was about other topics and not a transfer. There will be no departures in the winter and I also think the same in the summer."

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Galatasaray's goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

According to reports in the Turkish media today, Liverpool are preparing a bid in the region of €10 million for the Uruguayan international.

Galatasaray have valued Muslera at €20 million and have rejected all previous offers for the Uruguayan international.

AC Milan are also reported to be keeping tabs on Muslera as they continue efforts to sign a new goalkeeper over the transfer window.

The 27-year-old played an integral role in the Lion's back-to-back title winning seasons - 2011-13.

The Uruguayan international has also won the Copa America and finished the 2010 World Cup in fourth place for Uruguay.

Real Madrid outcast Alvaro Arbeloa is set to re-join Liverpool during January.

The former Spain international is reportedly frustrated at his lack of game time this season, having started just five La Liga matches.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti currently favours 23-year-old Dani Carvajal, who has done little wrong at right-back this term.

And according to sources in Spain, Arbeloa, 31, is hoping to jump ship before the transfer window closes in a bid to gain regular football.

Arsenal and Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for his services during the summer.

However, Arbeloa is reportedly favouring a return to Anfield.
