i dont watch the league but i watch the national side and i have to say they have some of the best players in world football... probably the best side alongside Spain at international level today...

im talking about Argentinian players here.. Zanetti, Milito, Ayala, Samuel, Heinze, Burdiso, Demicheles... Cambiasso, Lucho G, Gago Banega....etc etc

im starting to think it might be easier if u name the one or two u have in mind so we'd sort this out maybe...

certianly not a diving bunch who dont get stuck in though... not imo

Ignored that, and went right back to the starting XI.

Agree with aCe' here.  Surely we're interested in top players not every jose kickaball that happens to be Argentinian, Spanish or what have you.  As such, I think it's fair to say that some of Argentina's top players are world class footballers who would be useful additions to our club.  I certainly wouldn't turn up my nose at signing the likes of Aguerro, Tevez, Rodriguez, Banega and several others who have done the business at both club and international level.  I'm no expert on Argie football, mind, but I've seen enough of their international matches to know they're worth considering.

Yeah but we would probably never be able to afford the likes of Aguerro, Tevez or Banega. We are more likley to go for a 2nd string one given our usual budget.

Aurelio isn't even Brazilian 3rd third string.

Argies are not divers.  Brazilians are much worse, and I watch a couple game a week in each league. There is a bit of foul embellishing, but nothing more than you would see in Italy or Spain.

And I think Lavezzi would be a great signing. He is one of the paciest players out there, and he has very good technique on the ball. Sort of the anti-kuyt, but he isn't a lazy worker. He plays on a cr@p team though that cannot score. Him and Hamsek are the only two decent footballers. Lavezzi is a rare talent in that not only could he play in all 3 roles behind the striker like Silva, but he can also play up front in a 4-4-2.

We need big signings if we want to get closer next year otherwise we risk falling behind with the other rivals sure to bolster their squads.

Liverpool 'to triple' Lavezzi wages
Saturday 23 May, 2009

Ezequiel Lavezzi’s representative hints Liverpool “offered to triple his wages,” but Pocho won’t force Napoli into letting him go.

It was reported this week that the club had turned down a £22m bid for the Argentine and manager Eduardo Rossetto conceded there was some truth in it.

“Napoli own the player’s contract and therefore the final word is down to the club. All we can do is wait,” said the representative.

“Are we waiting for Liverpool? You are the one who says that. All I can confirm is that there has been an important offer, superior to £19m, which [President Aurelio] De Laurentiis considered insufficient.”

Lavezzi is a hero to the Napoli fans and any decision to sell him would not be taken lightly, even though he won’t be in Europe with them next season.

“It all depends on Napoli. For example, if I have a sports utility vehicle in my garage then I don’t spend much money on its upkeep.

“However, if I own a limited edition vehicle then I have to take good care of it, polish regularly and basically spend more. Understood?”

If the Liverpool bid has been rejected, then it has only served to bump up Lavezzi’s wage requirements.

“Without going into detail, I will say the offer was to triple his current wages,” continued Rossetto.

“An agent has come to us with this offer, which is impressive and solid. We are not going to sit here and speculate on the situation. Napoli will decide and then let us know.”

Napoli reject Pool's Lavezzi bid
Friday 22 May, 2009
Napoli have allegedly turned down a bumper bid from Liverpool for Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

The 24-year-old has become a hero at the Stadio San Paolo, but he could leave for a bigger side this summer.

El Pocho has been linked with Juventus as well as Premier League giants Liverpool.

Reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has rejected a huge £22m offer from Liverpool this week.

Neither side have confirmed that such a bid was ever tabled, but it is suggested that representatives will meet next week.

Lavezzi is under contract until 2013 and De Laurentiis has no intention of selling him, but he may struggle to prevent the rising star leaving for a side with a Champions League berth.
