Liverpool Looking For Some Kompany

Rumours are spreading over the highy-rated 20 year-old defender Vincent Kompany's possible switch to Liverpool

The Hamburg SV central-defender has been a prodigal talent for some time now and it seems Rafael Benitez feels it is time for the player to step up to the big-stage.

However the Belgian international is not expected to come cheap, especially with Hamburg SV surveying the Torres transfer as signs that Liverpool might reluctantly agree to a £8-10 million deal.

With Sami Hyppia being at the centre of heighten transfer speculation linking him to a move to Sunderland, the path could be made clear for Kompany’s arrival by the end of the next week.

A decision by Hyppia to stay in Merseyside might not mean the end of the deal as the defensive cover for Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger is thin. Outside the ageing Hyppia, Rafa only has the young Gabriel Paletta to call on as back-up, meaning Kompany would provide support as well as a possible long-term first-team player.

Chelsea FC have also been strongly linked to Kompany over the past two years, with sporting director Frank Arneson and manager Jose Mourinho both expressing their admiration for the player’s athleticism and ability to read the game from the back.

A couple of years ago Kompany was being touted as the best young defender in europe, injury and a transfer seem to have restricted his development to the top level. I am not so sure about him now, he certainly struggled the last time I saw him. I would prefer G.Milito, more experienced and possibly cheaper, but maybe that boat has sailed.

Did Liverpool ever follow up their enquiry for Giles Barnes of Derby?
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

wow amazing player....

at first while watching the vid i thought he was very selfish and not a team player...

he never seemed to be passing the ball into the box... looked like he was always trying to shoot from long range at impossible angles and wanted to be a hero but as the vid continued it revealed much more of his ability to cross and play for the team....

cracking skills - left foot, right foot, inside of the boot, outside of the boot, back of the boot, speed, no fear, curl and swerve on the ball outstanding player....

Juventus reject Liverpool, Chelsea enquiries for Chiellini
tribalfooball.com - July 08, 2007

Liverpool and Chelsea have failed in approaches to Juventus for Italy U21 international defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Juve coach Didier Deschamps has told both Premiership clubs that Chiellini is not for sale after receiving enquiries following Italy's U21 European Championship campaign.

I think pennant is going to have a good season , did very well towards the end of last season , sign that he's finally settled and queresma should have no problem settling on the left wing..

               Reina
Finnan   Carra  Agger   Risse

Pennant Alonso Gerrard Queresma

              Torres

               Kuyt

Good enough to win it , if all did their job

Thought Queresma was a right winger.  :suspect:

Still think to win the premiership we need two real quality wingers for right and left.

Then with Torres and Kuite on fire up front we would ave a great chance.

Kompany coming in as cover for the 2 centre backs would be great as well.

Whats all this valuation on Benayoun putting a 8m price tag on him come on West Ham do me a favour Garcia went for just over 4m. I would give 3.5m no more.

I want Manchini, Quaresmo, Kompany, Heinze,

Come on Rafa do the Buisness!!!!

In Porto , he played alot of times on the left flank , there's where he would cross from the outside of his right foot , he's left is quite weak  but not as bad as kuyt

Liverpool close to capturing Babel
By Sam Wallace
Published: 09 July 2007
Liverpool made their second major move in the summer transfer market yesterday with a bid for the highly rated Dutch winger Ryan Babel. The club were understood to have offered around €10m (£6.75m) for the Ajax attacker, who was also a target for Arsenal and Newcastle.

Babel, 20, has attracted interest from all over Europe but it seems Rafa Benitez, the Liverpool manager, wants to make him the club's second significant signing of the close season after Fernando Torres. The player impressed in the Netherlands Under-21 team who won the European Championship on home soil last month and is regarded as the best of a crop of outstanding young Dutch talent.

He has already been capped by the full Netherlands side, scoring on his debut against Romania in March 2005, while the national team manager Marco van Basten has said Babel has the potential to be the next Thierry Henry.

Liverpool already have four first-team strikers in Torres, Peter Crouch, Dirk Kuyt and Andrei Voronin, but Babel is more adaptable and can be used as a winger. Benitez has said before that wide players are his priority this summer and he seems to have lost out on Florent Malouda, who will join Chelsea this week.

Ajax have not yet accepted Liverpool's bid for Babel, but it is close to their valuation of the striker.

Real Madrid have set their sights on the Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas after being warned off Milan's Kaka,. The Spanish club's sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, confirmed local media reports that the 20-year-old Spain player is wanted.

"Of course we are interested in Cesc," Mijatovic said. "We've been interested in him for over a year now and we are still interested."
