Latest transfer rumor

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Postby HacksawJimDuggin » Wed Jul 04, 2007 6:36 pm

Listen to Talksport and didn't hear that rumour. Would be a quality signing but is he not another central midfielder?? Been watching SSN and Rafa insists he is looking for wingers.

So.....who's next on the list. Carra kind of suggested that there are a few players in the £15m-£20m bracket we're looking at. He was also interviewed on SSN this afternoon.

Personally I think that we'll have another top signing wrapped up v.soon. Possibly before the weekend!

Yossi Benayoun with Bellamy going the other way, especially with Rafa's comments at the Torres conference :;):

Friggen hope not couldnt lace Garcias boots.
Nopoint in signing a world class striker then following it up with a player no better than Pennant.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Benítez is also in the hunt for a new winger, possibly two, and the indications from Portugal last night were that Ricardo Quaresma, of FC Porto, could fit the bill. Liverpool are said to have had a £13.5 million bid for the 23-year-old Portugal winger turned playmaker rejected, although a slightly improved offer could be enough to persuade the Portuguese club to sell.

Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signing of Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma.

The Portuguese champions are asking 25 million euros (£16.9million) for the former Barcelona player, but Atletico have reportedly offered 22 million (£14.6million).

"We have made an offer to FC Porto to sign Ricardo Quaresma. At the moment, we are waiting for an answer [from Porto]," Atletico chairman Enrique Cerezo told Portuguese daily newspaper Record.

"If they [Porto] don't find it interesting, we will look for other solutions."

According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Atletico have offered the midfielder a four-year contract at three million euros (£2million) per year, doubling his Porto wage packet.

Atletico are in the process of rebuilding after finishing the Primera Liga season outside the European spots in seventh.

While top scorer Fernando Torres appears on the cusp of a move to Premier League side Liverpool, Los Rojiblancos have snapped up Diego Forlan, Christian Abbiati, Raul Garcia, Cleber Santana and Luis Garcia.

Inter, while waiting for Figo the race is on for Quaresma

06.06.2007, 18:00

Inter and Atletico Madrid seem to be the two clubs battling it out for Porto winger Quaresma. After the player turned down an offer from Bayern Munich, and Manchester United signed Nani and Anderson instead, the player's future is between Italy, Spain and Portugal. It cannot be ruled out that the player will choose to stay where he is for one more year. Spanish press believe Atletico Madrid have the edge on Inter, on the condition that they qualify for the Uefa Cup. The biggest problem seems to be the player's price tag. Porto are refusing to go below 20 million euros, but their need for cash might lead them to lower their demands.

Meanwhile, Inter are waiting to know Luis Figo's decision about his future. The player said recently: "I don't know if I will keep playing, but I will decide soon. I don't have much time left and I know I must decide quickly, with the new season starting soon. If I continued playing in Europe, it would only be at Inter. There is no chance of me playing in England or Portugal."

i thought Zenden was already gone.

He is a decent player, versatile in terms of positions he can play. Good attitude.

However we have better quality than him in the centre and at the back, and need better quality than him on the wing.

*edit: Neb just recieved your pm. 'Can he play on the right wing?

I am not best to person to ask. hopefully some of the other posters will help you out on this, but..

Yes he can, and we have used him there, but not as a true winger. IMO. He won't beat many people, tends to look like a headless chicken at times, i reckon he's got a decent cross.

his average.  Not a replacement for ribery at all.  His slow, never beats a player and crossing is poor.  L'OM should stay aeay from Zenden.

In that league he will be a world beater, going past players for fun, whipping in delightful crosses and weighing in with double figures for goals.

I read that West Ham are looking at 2 potential purchases from LFC -

Bellamy - £9m + Benayoun or Bellamy + Cisse - £16m

Either deal suits with the latter looking very tasty. Go Rafa go. I'd rip West Ham's arm off for that offer that includes Bellamy and Cisse!!

Primera Liga club Sevilla have told Chelsea and Liverpool that they would
be willing to sell star Daniel Alves for the right price.

Sevilla president, Jose Maria del Nido confirmed: "If we receive a bid of €30million (£20.2million) then we could start to talk,"

STOCKPORT STARLET SET FOR REDS
By Andrew Scurr -  Created on 6 Jul 2007

Stockport youngster Ryan Crowther will join Liverpool after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the winger.

Liverpool took Crowther and Greg Tansey to an international tournament in Milan and the 18-year-old impressed sufficiently to earn a move to The Reds.

Crowther has already agreed personal terms and will move to Anfield once he passes a medical on Merseyside.

He will join former Stockport starlet Ben Robinson at Liverpool after the 14-year-old goalkeeper signed for the Premier League club recently.

Midfielder Tansey, meanwhile, will return to The Hatters and will be hoping to break into Jim Gannon's first-team next season.

Transfer fees have gone through the roof since Chelsea were taken over  :no

No way should we pay £20.2 million for Alves. Yes, he's a good player but that's just silly money!

The player will get p*ssed off with the demands of the club and player power will take over and he'll force his way out of the club for a reduced fee. Think Chelsea would get there first though..
