To think that we are going to pay 14 Mil for Barry and that Alonso is going to leave for less than that is crazy. It would be nice to keep both but Alonso woudl whinge if he wasnt starting all the time.

Well if we had the transfer money to buy barry, then I think Rafa wouldn't intend to sell alonso

sounds good...

how do you keep them all happy?

Remind them who is paying their massive salaries should be sufficient.

I think the demands of the modern game will mean that each will play enough to keep them happy. Stevie will regulary be out on the right, and Barry the left. When you look at it only Xabi and Masch are truly exclusivley central midfielders. There is room for them all.

Then you remember that you're supposed to keep them all happy.

Does it eck. I don't recall Crouch and Kewell showing huge amounts of gratitude for being paid to play for the club - or in Kewell's case very rarely play for the club while constantly injured.

If I were on anything like a grand a week I'd be happy if the boss told me to sit on a bench 90 minutes a week or put me feet up on a treatment table. They should consider the fans, I myself was made redundant by the counts that used to employ me and that was after putting everything into them for a pittance of pay. My new boss appreciates what I can offer the company so he negotiated me a pay rise before I'd even started.

All along I've been thinking that it doesn't make sense to effectively swap Alonso for Barry for the all the obvious reasons.

But I have a slight theory that it may possibly be that Barry will just be fitter and fresher next season having not played as many games or in the summer, as well as Alonso being a slow starter to the season. We all know how Rafa seems to think it comes down to the 'small details'.

Anyway probably bollox, but its the only real reason I can think of.

Just read on another forum that Hodgson reportedly wants to offload Bullard for £3m. The source was a sunday rag so I'm not convinced of any truth in it, but it does raise an interesting question.

Anyone fancy putting it to a poll? Straight Barry vs Bullard, I would but when I tried this internet wouldn't let me stating multiple part posting or something like that. I hope it doesn't stop me posting stats as well......................:D

latest i heard was that finnan may be thrown in as part of the barry deal. apparently villa can't offer the sort of wages that crouch would want.
