Unless someone else suddenly shows interest he may stay at villa and never win a trophy or even play in the champions league.

Maybe now we can concentrate on signing a player we need, although that may be it for the summer. We could sell the German Peasant who masquerades as a winger, but what can you get for £6m? Another German Peasant

I didn't know we had any German players in our squad, is this a new signing that I've missed or are you referring to the Ukrainian pony tailed ponce?

stop wrecking your head, heimdall. its the latest of owzat's hilarious names for players - he's talking about German Peasant.

errr, i mean Germing P!ss-Ant.

Hilarious? :D
Thats debatable.

did u notice any child-like behaviour coming from benitez during that Chelshit-Gerrard saga back then?

I wouldn't readily have called it childish, but Benítez did certainly act unprofessionally (this is according to Gerrard: My Autobiography) telling him to sign, but never providing the contract, telling him that he was about to provide a contract while there was none on the table, telling him he wanted to stay but making the Club Captain feel like he was on the fringe and was being forced out. It was the Chairman's intervention and Gerrard's love for the club that saved us, and not Benítez.

Well what was in the auto biography was not in the papers at the time.

I think Benitez was testing him, seeing if really wanted to stay and not do an Owen. Turns out that Stevie did wanna stay.

Benitez didnt bow down to Stevie and still kept it out of the press and the player stayed. Its all good, pointless bring Rafa into that one mate.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1039828/Liverpool-finally-agree-19m-deal-Gareth-Barry-despite-Villas-staying-statement.html

Gareth Barry's transfer to Liverpool finally looks like going through after the Anfield club came up with the money to secure his move from Aston Villa.

The longest-running saga of the summer has reached a confusing climax after an earlier statement that he was staying at Villa Park.

Sportsmail understands that the mix-up was due to a deadline being missed by 20 minutes, and the transfer will finally be concluded on Thursday.

I can't believe I wasted my time reading one of your posts, I must be much more important than you (and others) if all you've (pl) got to worry about is what I call teams and players

Then again you rarely make a (football related) point worth reading so you may as well appeal to the other numpties by posting "critical analyses" of my every word :rasp

I hope this is just another newbie thinking he's got to a headline first, I am hoping this stupid saga is over. Hopefully villa's word is the last word, although they would be best advised taking anything over £15m for him.

Some here aren't worried about spudz' spending, well I'd rather have their signings than our's. Maybe I'd take Keane over Dos Santos, but I'd like to have signed Bentley, Modric and be lining up Arshavin rather than Barny.

Please, please, please someone say "we haven't got the money" as that will make my day. Someone was alluding to spudz being a joke, spending lots for a tin pot every ten years, and yet we're made to look bad in the transfer market by a joke. The common laugh at our expense by villa fans is we can't afford to buy Barny, any big club could afford to

Barry's Liverpool move still on

Barry has made it clear to Villa that he wants to leave for Anfield
Gareth Barry's proposed move to Liverpool could yet go ahead despite Aston Villa stating he will be staying with them, BBC Sport understands.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1....851.stm

If villa say it is off, how the ferk can the deal still be on?!?!?! Are the BBC stating they know villa are making untrue statements? Or simply dragging this saga on because the 'big four' are quieter in the transfer market than the media would like?

Owzat chill out, Lad is a commonly used term from our neck of the woods so calm down sunshine.

And about the Barry transfer, lets get it done I say. Know one else I reckon would fit into our system. Van Der Varrt is most likely going to Madrid, Silva is small and will take time to settle and I dont want Downing.

He is also proven prem quality much like Keane, better to buy these types of player than some no mark from France etc etc.

Gareth Barry is not worth 20 mil and another english player who is way overrated who probably no-on on the continent has ever heard of him and wonder why LFC are ready to pay £20 mil for an English no mark.

what're you worried about... if rafa wants him and thinks that he can improve our team and if we have the money and means to sign him just sign him and be over and done with it...

We may as well get use to the possibility that Barry will eventually become a Liverpool player, so instead of saying we don't want him or hes not worth the money lets just wait and see what happens. IF he does sign AND he plays well what then "great goal/game/pass etc from Barry, but we still shouldn't have bought him".

Is he worth 18 Million or what ever the fee is, I don't know I will base my judgement on what he brings to the team and how successful we are, and that goes for Keane and any other new signing.

I didn't think Torres would be a hit, I was wrong, I said Voronin would out score Torres, again I was wrong. I have learnt to keep my mouth shut until I see them play instead of acting like a spoilt child and saying stuff like "we never wanted him anyway" I will wait and see what he brings to the team IF he does actually sign.

Barry isn't worth 18 Million and we don't want him in the same way Degen is not worth a free transfer, yet Dossena is worth 7 Million and all that based on none of them playing a game for us at the time those remarks were made ???
