£5m for joe cole - N'castle to offer for joe cole?

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Postby brentd4 » Sat Feb 12, 2011 1:35 am

id accept, he had the potential to be a liverpool great, but sadly failed,
i know he hasnt had many opportunities but i dont think he can provide us with what we need,
meireles is giving support and goals, which cole normally does,
but if we need width , hes not it, adam johnson is miles ahead and i think with citys mentallity we may expolit them and steal him, or go for young,
sorry joe but bench warming for 5m, dont think so,

all the best son

Ya I'd be fine with that.  He's been injury prone and just not good enough.

Typical bullish!t again.

Cole is still fighting injury, I think he himself has written off this season. As for the Newcastle rumour - you have heard of a transfer window right?

I think he is a top player and would keep him.
Especially now we have a manager that likes to play football.
Cole could really benefit from the way we play now, IF he can get himself fit that is.

If he gets fit he offers more than Maxi and Kuyt

Let's hope he gets fit and plays 2 or 3 games in a row to get his sharpness back

When fit he can be a key asset for us, at the very least a good squad player, but he's much better than that. Anyway we don't have to sell to buy now and we need to build a strong squad overall so I can't see us selling him.

A fit Cole would clearly be one of our better players right now and certainly ahead of one or two that are getting games. We got him free but he will no doubt be one of our highest paid players with reports hes raking in 80-90k a week and thats a big outlay over the contract period, especially considering hes hardly kicked a ball through injury. 5m doesnt seem a lot but we would could invest that and the 4-5m a year we are contracted to pay him in a younger talent on half those wages if not less.

even when he's injured he's still twice the play Maxi is. Needs to be given a fair chance when fit IMO

I'd honestly consider it, I think his biggest problem just might be his mentality.  All the talent in the world doesn't make you a good player and ever since he first came on the scene he's shown glimpses of being better than he actually is.  He should have always been so much more but never was and maybe never will be.

I'd probably take it. He's done nothing for us and I genuinely believed he'd have a big impact at Liverpool, he hasn't. In fact, on many occasions where he has played he's been bloody awful

he never had the chance to show his worth.

we all know what a great player he is, he just needs 3 or 4 games in a row then you can see some consistency especially with the way we play.
