make what you will of it make but you all also took the :censored: when i posted that there had been a bust up at the club.

Gerrard stood up to Rafa, Rafa started to have a pop at all the team for not playing well, Gerrard is said to have stood up and shouted that the team was getting no direction from Rafa, he did not shut up there and a few more things are said to have been spoken about, Sammy took Gerrard out (not to stop him from hitting Rafa but to stop him from saying anything that he could get the sack for).
this is why Rafa called a team meeting on the monday to give the team a talking to..............or you could say to give the team some direction.

i did post about this the day after the bust up but the bbc did not run it as the Golf story took over (Tiger coming back).

at the end of the day Rafa needs to understand that it is not only him that can run to the press when he is not happy in his job or not getting the contract he is after, its seem ok for him to do it but as soon as a players talks in the presss about he is not happy that Rafa dont talk to the players you say he should go, not to note that he is one of the best players in our team right now, we have won most of our games when he plays.

over player busts up

graeme souness v Ray Clemence

some say that part of the reson that Ray left the club was due to a big fight with Souness.....Souness is said to to have puched him but them Ray hit back, there was not many in the team that liked the idea of trying to split them up so they stood by untill it ended, the only person i have heard talk about this was Ronnie Moran when he was saying how hard the old Liverpool teams was.

READ AND WEAP - YOU WHIMPS.. CAPELLO AND RAFA.. COLD AND HEARTLESS AY - GOOD

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpo....6070934

ALBERT RIERA should have followed Ryan Babel’s example – now there’s a sentence you probably never envisaged reading.

All things being equal, Riera’s less than impressive Anfield career will be over sooner rather than later and, if a suitable arrangement can be made, that eventuality may happen within weeks as opposed to months.

Don’t shed too many tears, if and when he walks out the door. Aside from spectacular goals against Aston Villa and PSV Eindhoven, plus the odd bright performance, Riera has failed to deliver anything resembling the standards expected from a Liverpool player.

True, this campaign has been a write-off, as his form has dipped and injuries have wreaked havoc but that does not in any way, shape or form given him the licence to verbally attack his manager or, more worryingly, a young, fellow team-mate.

Riera might be desperate to go to the World Cup with Spain and you can, in a way, understand why he has been so frustrated at spending so little time on the pitch. But that does not excuse his petulance or temper..

Had he decided to knuckle down and properly hone the talents that first brought him to Benitez’s attention, Riera could easily have fought his way back into the starting line-up and found himself with a platform to showcase his abilities.

Which, neatly, brings us to Babel. There are many parallels with the way their respective campaigns have played out, including finding themselves in the papers on the morning of an important European game complaining about how they have been treated.

When Babel’s ‘outburst’ was published on the day Liverpool played Debrecen in Budapest, you would not have got big odds on him being moved on during January and, had Birmingham appealed to club and player, he could have ended up there.

The prospects of him being allowed to leave appeared even greater after his now infamous revelations on Twitter that he had been left out of the squad to play Stoke City, with Benitez not offering “any reason”.

He might have been fed up and lacked maturity in the decisions he made but, after a series of meetings, Benitez decided that Babel’s assets could be best harnessed on Merseyside and he knew the closure of the transfer window would be significant.

Does this sound like a manager who is cold and detached? What’s more, isn’t it funny how Fabio Capello is lauded for being distant from his England squad yet Benitez finds himself pilloried for apparently being the same?

Without distractions or advisors constantly chirping in his ear, Benitez suspected that Babel might turn the corner; he just needed pushing in the right direction to start showing the potential everybody knows the Holland forward undoubtedly has.

What has happened since? Babel has been a regular in the squad, started many more games, his form has improved and there have been a couple of goals – he has been criticised here before, so it’s only fair he receives credit where and when it is due.

Riera? Well that is a completely different matter. His attitude has been poor for months, his sulking and petulance the last thing that has been needed during a time when Liverpool have been fighting desperately to keep their heads above water.

Of course, every club has its sulkers but not every club has the kind of player who vents his anger by physically attacking a young professional; those who witnessed the training ground incident were appalled by the way Riera reacted.

Benitez does not allow personal grievances to interfere with his judgement on picking a team and if a player is left our of a specific match or squad, there is a valid reason for it, one that has been made to help Liverpool get three points.

There are charts and graphs in his office at Melwood that show how many minutes players have been in action, how many training sessions they have been involved in and how many miles they have run; it is, in many ways, an appliance of science.

So for Riera to claim he has been out in the cold because Benitez doesn’t like him is rubbish; if he wants to find a reason for that, all he needs to do is take a long, look in the mirror.

And as for referring to Liverpool as a ‘sinking ship‘? Well, if he truly believes that, the sooner he hops overboard the better – this ship will have a far better chance of staying afloat if everyone is pulling in the same direction.

At the end of the day I agree with that article, Reira hasnt performed.

Left wing has been a thorn for 10 years, Kewell, Babel and Reira, none of them have produced the goods and we've wasted so much money trying to fill that position.

We should splash money on a single, proven player then get 5+ years service from the lad.

Gotta love this place sometimes... Riera opens his mouth and next thing you know he's the worst player to ever put on a red shirt...

Still think we should do whatever we can to keep him in the club... He wont be sold for more than 5-8 mill as things stand.. Hes definitely worth more than than given his ability.. He's still the best option we have down the left and unless someone like Silva, Mata or Robben is brought in, then any extra money we spend on bringing in a replacement is going to be a waste..

Yep; New Zealand football...How appropriate!

Another player sold for less than we bought him .....

http://www.guardian.co.uk/footbal....ransfer

Liverpool have accepted an offer of around £6m from CSKA Moscow for their outspoken midfielder Albert Riera and hope to conclude the sale of Rafael Benítez's critic by the end of this week.

The Spain international is due to return to training at Melwood today having served a club suspension for last week's public criticism of Benítez's management style. Whether the 27-year-old gets as far as the training pitch is debatable, however, with Liverpool now willing to cash in on the marginalised winger and to allow Riera to discuss personal terms with CSKA.

Liverpool are hopeful of a swift deal for Riera, who has cut an increasingly frustrated figure in a season where he has been restricted to 16 appearances and whose desire for first-team football ahead of the World Cup arguably prompted his outburst on Radio Marca. The winger, signed for £8m from Espanyol in 2008, described Liverpool as a "sinking ship" in the interview and was scathing in the assessment of Benítez, who he claimed held a personal grudge against him and had zero dialogue with players.

Russia's transfer window is open until 8 April and Benítez will have made a profit of approximately £12m through sales this season should Riera follow Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin out of Anfield. Even that surplus is not guaranteed to be reinvested in the Liverpool squad this summer, however, with Champions League qualification, or the lack of, determining how much can be spent.

The Rhône Group has made provisions for a transfer budget as part of its £100m offer for a 40% stake in Liverpool, with a decision yet to be made by the owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, although Benítez's spending power will be reduced should they fail to secure a top-four finish.

Despite the financial uncertainty at Anfield, Benítez insists he has been encouraged by recent contract talks with Javier Mascherano and is confident the Argentina captain will be the latest component of Liverpool's first-team to commit his long-term future to the club.

"We were talking, progressing and we're closer now. Still we need to talk a little bit but we are closer," the manager said. "It would be very important for the club. We have some important players with some years left on their contracts and this could be another one. It's very important that we're keeping the spine of the team."
