Not the first time no, but he's give Pacheco a smack, and like when bellamy hit Riise he was out the door also.

You cant go around hitting your team mates then go to the press putting the blame on someone else.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

What I heard about the incident with Pacheco (Usher tlw) :-

Riera was training with the ressies after coming back from injury. Pacheco was being greedy and not passing the ball when he should. Riera, being the senior pro, tried to give him some advice and pass on his experience etc, but Pacheco shrugged him off. It happened more than once, and in the end Riera slapped him across the face.

He was sent home, whilst Pacheco was in tears. A couple of the reserve players who were there felt Riera was right to do it, and that Pacheco needed bringing down a peg or two as he is greedy at times and was getting a bit too cocky.

Reception? He won't kick another ball for us.

sorry but can't I see Babel on the pitch at the moment, didn't he have a winge at Rafa earlier in the season.
Football is so weird in terms of employment, clubs "own" the players and control what they can say and when so denying them freedom of speech. It really is weird that it is allowed by the EU in terms of human rights and yes I know they are paid a fortune but it is kind of weird all the same.

The only thing wierd are your posts. Any company empolyee that goes to the media and complains about their boss will get disciplined by that company no matter what industry they are in.

"Human rights"

Really, do you know of any cases where that has happened? Does that employee get fined/docked wages, can the company transfer him to another company?

Seriously if you think about it, it is kind of like slavery with the football clubs owning and controlling the players. Very highly paid slaves but slaves all the same, in this day and age it is a bit weird in terms of human rights and political correctness etc.

I don't know of many slaves who had the leverage to down tools when they were fed up and orchestrate a transfer or just sit on their a.rse and collect a fat wage packet until their CONTRACT ran out and they were legally able to negotiate terms with a different 'master' but, hey ho, nothing like a little overheated hyperbole eh?  :O

Its in the echo now...

Albert Riera training ground bust-up with Liverpool FC youngster meant radio outburst was final straw
Mar 18 2010 By Dominic King

ALBERT RIERA’S Liverpool career could be over within weeks after he was suspended by the club following his astonishing verbal attack on Rafa Benitez.

The Reds winger has been told to stay away from Melwood until Monday after giving an interview to Spanish radio station Marca, in which he criticised Benitez’s preferred style of play and the lack of chances he has been afforded this season.

That outburst was the final straw for an enraged Benitez, as Riera was recently involved in a training ground bust-up with an unnamed young member of Liverpool’s squad that appalled witnesses to the incident.

Riera is understood to have landed at least one blow on the youngster.

The Spain international’s attitude has been poor for weeks in training and he has hardly figured in the squad since a desperate personal performance in the 1-0 win over Unirea Urziceni last month.

Riera was not at Anfield last night, as Liverpool booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lille.

He has also been heavily fined for his comments and it is now inevitable that he will be jettisoned from Anfield, the only question is when he will be gone.

Yet, incredibly, that did not stop Riera airing his grievances once again last night, as he conducted another radio interview, this time with a different Spanish radio station.

... then it goes on

reckon someone’s leaked it to the press, to help rafa / the team ostricise reira more.  – Thing is, he played in a game soon after that incident so he wasn’t banned for the fight

Thing is people should learn that there's always two sides to a story. Instead of jumping on the manager at the first oppotunity when one of his players goes crying to the papers about not getting a game . Maybe just maybe for once certain posters could hold there water for a tad longer until the facts are known, instead of looking for any stick to beat the manager with . Just an idea like .

Free transport to USA, free food, dancing and accomodation(limited) on board ship, guaranteed secure employment,  free accomodation on arrival, free contraception for males, none restrictive working hours or practices.

Pretty much the same life as a footballer mate. :D

what do you mean by two sides to the story igor?

people have been jumping on rafas back about the man-management style - but thats got nothing to do with the "fight" story.  - Its just being spun by the media that way. Fact is the "fight" happened in january and reira played in a game shortly after the incident, so its not like he was suspended for that.

As if there's much room for facts on a forum where some think facts are opinions repeated until anyone saying the opposite gets bored and stops replying........................

Its a shame really... the whole thing..

Riera is one of the better players in the side and i always thought our sh!t form this season had alot to do with him being out of the side..

I still think he's our best left winger and losing him to me would be a big step in the wrong direction.. It would take more money to replace him (with a player of similar quality) than we would get for him now and I think with the problems we have in other positions (CB, LB, RW, FW) we should have done more to keep him in the side...

Getting boring the whole players vs. manager nonsense every fcking season now... someone from higher up should have a word with Rafa about his handling of players especially if Rafas future in the club is in doubt after this season...

They are still owned though aren't they BB, actually owned by a club, would you like to be owned by the company you work for and only able to move if they allowed it because I know I wouldn't. I can see what you mean though and I did say they were highly paid slaves and of course there are tricks which the agents can do to get them out of the club but if they refused to play then surely they would forfeit their wages wouldn't they?
Anyway I just find the concept of someone being owned quite an abhorrent thought, although I am stretching the concept a bit I know.

he certainly gave the team some balance, but that is more down to the fact that we have no real left wingers than down to his ability.

on his day Reira is a good winger, but he hasn't shown that this season. Injruies probably have something to do with it, but if he's not prepared to fight his way back into the team and wants to mouth off to the press then he has to go. simple as really.

8 million is being touted as a price and this would be a good bit of business, even though it will leave us short.

- he gave the team more than just balance... He's one of few who are good at keeping possession higher up the pitch (Gerrard, Kuyt, Babel and even Benny all give the ball away cheaply more often than not when in advanced positions), and his movement and dribbling down the left flank allow our fullbacks and other midfielder more space and time when we're on the ball..

- he hasnt shown that this season mainly because of injuries and Rafa keeping him out of the side... He hasnt started many games, certainly cant remember him playing for more than 60 or so mins when hes started, and he's been kept out of the side when we needed him the most imo..

- who says he's not prepared to fight for his place ? I think the majority of Liverpool fans would agree that Riera is a better left winger than the likes of Babel, Aurelio, Maxi, even Benny... Him being a starter for the Spanish national side, being fit and ready, and not able to get into a struggling Liverpool side suggests that the manager has something against the player...

- 8mill isnt enough to bring in a player good enough to hold a starting place.. Riera was a bargain at that price.. Given his record I would say the chances of Rafa buying 2 bargain left wingers who are good enough are almost Zero... Of course the other scenario is Rafa not being here next season which automatically leads to the question: If Rafa wasnt around, would you want Riera to stay at the club ?!

Well this won't shock anybody but I certainly prefer Riera to Rafa. If it's true that Pachecho was being a little turd in training then he probably deserved a slap anyway.

The guy has caused problems at every club he has been at - was also banned from training at Espanyol for a couple of weeks.

As for being first choice for spain - he is back up for Silva at best and is a standard decent player who hasnt done anything this season when played and has been injured the other times . Couple of weeks ago claims he wants to stay for life now calls the club a sinking ship

Let him rot in the ressies then flog him off during the summer and make sure he doesnt go to the world cup

Slapping a ressie ?!?!

Classless t.wat - doesnt deserve to wear the red shirt with a liverbird on it .
