i don't agree that slapping pacheco was necessarily 'classless'. as usual we don't know all the details, though from what is leaking out it seems as if reira wasn't the only one who thinks pacheco was being overly cocky and probably got what was coming to him. we also don't know if the slap was a full in the face red mark for a week style or a more gentle tap to make a point. no reason for everyone to get all worked up before we know whats been going on.

the saddest part is that through one reason or another we look about to lose a player who is a valuable and more than useful squad member. while not the most exciting wing player in the world he is one of the more intelligent footballers we have on the books, and one of the few that can actually hold the ball bhigher up the pitch and bring others into play. a big shame if he goes, and a bigger shame if he goes at a loss.

Finally some sense. BTW Not sure if you were complementing me on being thick skinned, which I sure as hell have to be on this forum, or taking the p1ss but what the hell it's Friday and I'm off home via the pub.  :D

people have been jumping on rafas back about the man-management style - but thats got nothing to do with the "fight" story.  - Its just being spun by the media that way. Fact is the "fight" happened in january and reira played in a game shortly after the incident, so its not like he was suspended for that.

Yep.

Sounds like the, ahem "fight" is a bit of character assassination.

why? Is all violence classless, is that your point. So was Gerrard classless when he elbowed the pompey player?

Yes he was classless and stupid .

Pretty much like yourself

Ah it's clearly have a go at Heimdall time again. Apologies GYBS I didn't know Pachecho was your latest infatuation.

I've never been called classless before, mind you isn't that the society which Labour aspire to, a classless society, maybe it's actually a compliment from you.

Infatuation ? It doesnt matter who the player is - senior players should never ever go round slapping young players at the club . If you cant see that then you really are clueless as well as classless

So what should Riera do if Pachecho "was" behaving like a little sh1t then? Sit down with him and have a discussion like adults maybe with Rafa as a kind of counsellor. Look I'm no advocate of violence but I think most footballers are from a "classless", as you call it, background where a slap probably is the most effective way of dealing with this.

what should riera do?

certainly not hit him   :idea

I don't think he automatically has to go, but if he were to stay on my watch he'd have to show a genuine willingness to improve his attitude and move on for the benefit of the team i.e. accept that he made a mistake, give assurance he won't be at it again, and have better communication with the manager.

In America, its usually seen as a good thing if things get a little heated in pre-season practice.

And Grobbelaar belted McManaman too. In a real game to boot.

I'd wouldn't be surprised if Riera's "hitting" turned out to be just a bitch slap or something.

mate that is a really classless , bitter statement imo

Does this explain why we've seen so little of Pacheco lately?

We have never seen much of Pacheco anyway and if the story it's true then we know have a better idea why after he was evidently a better winger the senior players from what we have seen so far.
