That's fuckin day 1 stuff, for christ's sake.
Doing nothing is not the way to go, under ANY circumstance. That's a recipe for disruption.
Exactly, so if the manager doesn't come to you then you go to them. It's a two way thing.
Going out and bleating about it in the press achieves nothing whatsoever.
How do you know that he hasn't?"If I'm doing something badly and you are my boss, and you value me, then you are going to come and tell me what I have to do to play again. This is what hurts me.
suggests quite strongly that he hasn't been to seen benitez of his own volition
Especially as if he had tried to talk to benitez surely that would be an even juicier justification to have moan about his treatment in his interview

Sorry Albert lad, but if you don't like it then you know where the door is. Have fun in Russia, you'll find its a bit of a culture shock from the Premire league.

He has the talent but for some reason rafa is strangling him and he is inconsistant. If this is down to man management then rafa needs to pack his bags cos we'll end up losing more than Riera at the end of the season if he keeps treating his lads like he seems to be.
Absolutely correct Lee.
Riera can be be hit and miss at times (like the vast majprity of the team), but as far as I'm concerned the lad opened up the left flank. Before he arrived it was virtually closed for business.

To spin it the other way...
If this were the first time that question marks had been raised about Rafa's man management approach I wouldn't be concerned but it's not and an emerging pattern is there for all (who are willing to acknowledge it) to see. I'm not saying Riera should be excused for handling things in this way--bleating to the press is not on--but it does add one more piece to the puzzle that is Rafa Benitez IMO.

I agree with this to extent that he really made the left wing his own when he came, we played a LOT better when he arrived, his impact was truly noticed when he played not too long ago and we were a noticbly better side (cant remember who it was against), however getting into any team of the last 30 years is a bit of a exaggeration to say the least
Though Riera is the best left winger we have IMO there is a lot better on the market than him. So long as Rafa actually buys a WINGER and not a left sided Dirk

Hmmm, that's not really conclusive either way Pepe.
Besides, Riera (like him or not) is correct here. The manager should be going to his players and discussing matters such as these.
That part and parcel of management.
Good management anyway.

He undoubtedly has, mate, no argument. Unfortunately, his style at the moment isn't getting the job done so I think it bears scrutinizing. Actually, I'm beyond that. I think it's been scrutinized and found wanting so it's time to call time on Rafa's tenure with thanks and go in a different direction.

for me, the bit in bold is not really relevant for my argument re:riera , as whoever the manager is and however well or badly he is doing, it is totally inappropriate for one of our players to make such comments

no , i don't suggest it is conclusive, t
your "how do you know he hasn't?" comment is fair enough, but is not backed up by any of the evidence
the actual quote from albert that benitez should be coming to see him , and the absence of any mention about him going to see benitez makes it seem the more likely scenario imo
