ALBERTO AQUILANI - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Agua should be given a chance with an extended run to really show what he can bring to the team. To be honest the time has come where maybe the boss has to gamble if we are to get any sucess so maybe putting the Italian in can bring something extra that Lucas cannot.

No mate we shouldnt play him at all
Hes sh'ite. Lucas is better.
If Rafa had any brain he would fu'ck Aquilani off and not even put him on the bench for the rest of the season. Lucas and Kuyt are the most creative and talented players weve got. They should start every game if we want to win.

You've sussed Rafa out pretty well

Hes one of those... you say black i say white.

Its the key trait of stubborness.. and not being told what to do and being his own man facade.

If memory serves he went 99 games without the same XI.. and various times in that run he was told that surely with the team winning he'd retain the XI.. Nope, no one suggests anything to Roffa, regardless if its right he will do the opposite.

He doesnt praise top players when they get media adulation, but will praise pi'sspoor players who are gettin slammed (his reaction recently when lucas was savaged in the press, inwhich he incredulously responded that he controlled the game against reading, when they utterly dominated midfield ... you couldnt make it up). Rafa has an arrogance that is more subtle than Mourinho. He thinks hes right about everything (as Carra said, whatever u tell rafa hes done it better)

...here you go, Rafa "not praising" Pepe Reina :

"He's a great character, loves the fans and they love him" Sport.co.uk 15:20

Rafa is obviously not a gusher and is in the "hard" school of coaching (like many other coaches), but he does on occasion come out with statements publicly - which I'd imagine makes them all the more valuable , rather than the constant sweet nothings from a sycophantic manager... not that rafa cares a jot i;'m sure

??? and if you think the best way to "man manage" Lucas  is to slate him in the press, then you're are way off - surely a player having a hard time needs support ffs

Some of the best managers are bluffers , you know the ones . Where there asked by a reporter after the match . Did you see that blatant foul by your man or the obvious hand ball in the box ? and the answer is from Fergie or wenger . Err i didn't see it from where i was sitting . They all play the game . It's just that Rafa doesn't play it there way and that's why he's hounded by sky the media in genral and other managers. Rafa has his own way of managing and im fine with it personally like.

True... but Rafa takes it to the nth degree hence is seen as an idiot in England.

Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho have a gravitas that when they speak its seen as lucid, intelligent..and coherent. Wengers "i did not see it" is classic bluff.. but it works because no admittance from him means the FA have less to go on.

With Rafa its the opposite..  coming out with "we were controlling the game" works ok in a one off moment of bluffing when we clearly hadn't, but stating it every week after losing for the umpteenth time gives fuel to his long list of detractors and feeds the ridicule he receives.

Rafa comes out with virtually the same guff  if we win , lose or draw (because he is contractually obliged to say something).

Rafa is his own man, and won't play the game. Wenger et al may be "lucid, intelligent..and coherent." but they still talk the same old :censored: as BigSam does

Are you a fan of Columbo? sometimes the shambling mumbler is the one having you on, not the other way around...
