No firepower - Baros and cisse not the answer

Baros and Cisse had nothing to offer last night. Kewell was given lot's of possession, but lacked conviction and chose the wrong option's. Defensive marking was slack.

I wouldn't say that Cisse and Baros offered nothing, Cisse yeah ok he didn't have the best of games but Baros came on when we were playing catch up and the game was slowly drifting away, I just wonder if Cisse and Baros can play together as they are quite similar, regards to Kewell well I just don't know what to say about that lad anymore cos he is below par every game, he always struggles to find a man and gave the ball away a lot last night :(

We still need a centre back, a keeper and a forward.  Cisse doesn't look like he is worth £14 million.  I know its early days yet but he looks like a classic Houllier signing.  Great in the french league, but just not good enough for the Premiership.  I hope he comes good but I'm not sure...
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Never mind the firepower what about our defence?
Thats a disgrace aswell, Raffa will have to sort that one out before we play chelsea or arsenal, we'll probably get beat 5 or 6 nill by them 2 if things dont change with our defence.
Hamann should have started last night anyway and kewell dropped for warnock, Stevie only ever has a good half anyway be it first or second half of a game hes never brilliant for 90 mins.
Saturday against norwich nunez cisse and baros all to play and throw kewell on drop him for CL game on tuesday.
Why should harry bother with his Lpool wages when hes just turned over 35mill?
Thats why Beckhams ****** hes got enough money aswell.

Defense has to be main priority to be strengthened and its still far too early to judge whether Cisse will end up being a star or flop

Some good points in the posts above.
I never realised that Kewell was worth £35m, no wonder he dosn't go for 50/50 balls.
Cisse is looking like a classic Houllier purchase - All promise and no ultimate development.
The defence is a problem, not sure exactly where the weak link is.

Kewell's not worth £35million, he's worth about £12million (the article you're thinking of says he's worht $35million Aus)

Do you remember Pires' performances for Arsenal in his first season?

Give the lad time for christs sake.

Which lad Stu ? Cisse or Kewell ?
If Rafa has instituted a zonal marking system ? Who should have picked up Sylvestre ? - Carragher, Alonso, Josemi or even Cisse ?

to me it was not about individual error, it was the fluidity of the team, it needs time. You have to be in the same team for an adequate time before playing the telephatical style like Arsenal and Manure. This is what we haven't gained, adn Manure's tactic worked well by dragged us down to a speedy tempo game. We were made helter skelter and torn apart by the opposition side as most of our important parts of engine were new in Garcia, Alonso, Josemi and Cisse who still have been learning to adapt to each other.

Its still early days yet.

Its always the same on this board. Two days ago a lot of people were talking about how we'd "stuff" Man UTD. The lack of footballing knowledge among certain members is shocking.

Man UTD appear to be on the wane by their lofty standards but they can still muster the likes of Keane, RVN, Giggs, Scholes, Ferdinand, Christiano Ronaldo, Lious Saha, Alan Smith and will soon have Wayne Rooney at their disposal. Gabriel Heinze also looks like a promising player.

The flaws which apparently were on view last night (I say apparently as I still have got to see the game as I had to work late) have always been there, and didn't suddenly evapourate by beating Monaco and WBA.

It'll be Christmas before we know where we're at, and Cisse deserves another few months before he starts getting serious criticism.

JBG the voice of reson yet again.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.
