Peace, any place for it . - The divide

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby redbeergoggles » Sun Dec 20, 2009 4:26 pm

Since the poll constructed by Dundalk put peoples allegiances firmly into columns of black and white ... I have come to the conclusion that while this may have been helpful in distinguishing which posters stand on which side of the divide, it has also ,although probably without that being the prior intention, provoked angry reactions between both parties

This has resulted in the forum becoming a veritable battleground for warring posters ,and all it has served to accomplish is to ostracise posters from airing their views in certain threads

I have been giving serious consideration of late to finding a solution to this  cavernous divide ,which is currently threatening to split the forum in two ,surely there is a place we can find some common ground ,because its starting to boil over into a full scale war.

I have no wish to enter this forum every night substantiating why my stance is any more imperative than any other posters ,because after all we are all entitled to hold our own views ....  but for the sake of the longevity of the forum ,which at times can be head and shoulders above all the others on offer ..

So for the sake of retaining a forum that is known for intelligent debate  ,lets agree to disagree, and like I stated earlier seek out some common ground ...

Lets be truthful here the posts are becoming spiteful and mocking , and  I include myself in that scenario ,I myself have been more than a little guilty in that particular department

Is it to much to ask for posters to quell the disparaging remarks about peoples beliefs ,and maybe this in turn will help certain posters setting  insidious little traps to goad and ensnare  their prey,
which I must confess I am not exactly whiter than white in that respect .
So in short any solutions people because this is going to get worse before it gets better ...............  :no

I doubt there will be any solution any time soon without heavy moderation. You probably have to wait until something changes for liverpool and in the meantime just read the forum less, especially if we lose a match.

When the club is in the crisis it is in at the moment there is always going to be a difference in opinion.

If we all had the same opinions then this place would be very very boring with everybody responding to a topic with "Yeah I couldnt agree more"

Well, this is one of the reasons why I stated in the last week or so that should our poor form continue on, then I'll be party to no particular stance and take up my lofty perch sitting on the fence regarding the affairs of our manager. I've always backed the man to the hilt, but lately that loyalty has been put in question, but I still refuse to let go of any rational thinking I have but resorting to the mode of thinking that he isn't a good enough manager. Rafa is neither fish nor foul and that's the opinion I shall hold in the time being considering current circumstances and out of respect.

I feel the trouble we now have at this club is considerably due to the sum of it's parts not functioning as a whole. No one man, or party is to blame, and I will not be subjected to scapegoating. It's a natural reaction by the fans. Fight-or-flight, or push the panic button?

RBG, the negative demoralising bickering on this forum is self destructive hence so many former posters have exited stage left. As the club implodes, so do the fans and with it the forums.

I know mate but after reading a couple of exchanges lately ,which in truth were nothing but mocking and heaped with derision surely there has to be a line  drawn somewhere

People who get personal with other forum members over a subject on here are in my opinion just showing the type of personally they have. We are not all going to agree but personal attacks are just stupid

The motive for the thread is commendable but I regret to say that IMO, it is a complete exercise in futility.

Unless puberty kicks in (if ever) and maturity, rational thinking and objectivity raises their heads.

Until then, when the club is in crisis, there will ever be a difference in opinion in what has caused it and what are the steps required to overcome it. When everything is hunky dory..... peace will return.

Yes but as the level of caustic and  indeed inflammatory asides rises ,the need to respond in kind will only grow :(

I respect your views but lets take a scenario that could incur the wrath of fans and posters alike :

Lets say Benitez is ousted as some demand ,and Dalglish is put in charge .what if he isn't achieving the results required ,would you accept the vitriolic and vicious remarks that is a almost a certainty some posters will make ? Because I wouldn't and I doubt most posters would ...

I notice you mention the thread as an exercise in futility ,but albeit from one posters comments the thread has indeed been useful in deflecting the tedious circle of insults and conjecture surrounding the club at the moment ,would you not agree
