4-4-2, Torres with Kuyt, Voronin should be keep a safe distance from the first team. Benny on the right, Riera on the left. Flexibility allows Kuyt to switch flanks with Benny to play 4-4-1-1, with Benny playing Gerrard's old role. Gerrard must remains the engine of the team since Alonso is gone.

its disappointing we did not improve the squad based on last season's.
Einstein put it simply, "The problems we face today cannot be solved on the same level of thinking we were at when we create them."
If we did not win last season's title with the squad, what makes u think that we can win this season's title with a weaken squad?
I looked at our bench and it is pathetic, if Rafa is not ready to give Babel a chance then sell him away and bring in someone new.

I doubt it rather he thought I might sell him to get some money to buy another player then found out the banks won't let him use that money to get another player so now he keeps this player and plays him. Simples !  :D

Yeah lets throw away 6 points on a gamble, that's some great management for you.   :Oo:

Gerrard back into the middle of the park, Riera to come in on the left, leave Kuyt on the right and play Yossi in an advanced role behind Torres!

Alternatively....

Carra to RB with the Greek coming in alongside Skrtel with Johnson going to RM, Kuyt pushed up front and leave Yossi at LM.

So does Usain Bolt, should Rafa sign him?

Now there's an idea, he's a a tall lad as well, kind of like a speedy Crouch.
In any case bet he woudln't be any worse than Wash or the Voronator.

Pepe

Carra                    Kyrgiakos                            Skrtel                     Insua

                                   Plessis                  Masha

Johnson                                                                                   Gerrard

                                              Yossi

                                             Torres

Subs:  Cava
          Babel
          Kuyt
          Riera
          Lucas
          Ayala
          Spearing

I'd love to see this starting line up,

I know that gerrard is better in the middle, but I'm sure he can play his left sided England role for a couple of games.

I haven't seen the greek play? or know of the form of Plessis? i just think he and Mash in the middle would be alot stronger, if not more creative than with Lucas.

Glen Johnson is the only player in our squad who can go past 2 players with one dribble, i'd love to see him further up the field.

Dirk Kuyt has done nothing wrong, but look at the strength of the bench, its abit different bringing on a fired up kuyt than Voronin or Ngog.

I can't say I'm too disappointed mate to be totally honest. I don't think even Rafa of three or four seasons ago would have gone for a team as eccentric as that.

Fair play to you for putting it out there though I guess.

Yeah that was always my biggest gripe with Crouch how terrible he was in the air but I still wish we hadn't sold him.

Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that Riera has been carrying a slight knock he picked up while on those pointless intentional friendlies just before the season started.

But, god forbid, our manager rest somebody with a slight injury. How dare he? Maybe he should start playing Aquilani on crutchers eh lad.

Yes we all know how Rafa protects his players. I mean Poor babel only cut his finger doing some hardcore present raping and Rafa kept him out most of the season.  :;):

Nah that wasn't why Babel was kept out.

He was kept out because after every game he played he'd receive a death wish from Liverpool fans.  :;):

Well, Rafa went for the keep Lucas and play 4-2-3-1.

Kyrgiakos and Riera start.

Rafa will field the same team that ran out against Villa. Rafa doesn't change - if he changes things that it means his system isn't working and he's not going to do that. Rafa believes his system is THE system regardless of who is available.

Here's a thought (and it's not Rafa bashing) I want to put out there:

Does Rafa account for human error? The ZM style works if EVERYBODY does exactly what Rafa wants them to, when he wants them to and how he wants them to. This doesn't allow for human error, which is all walks off life. What happens if one player is a split second short of moving when he's supposed to? A goal, that's what happens.

Same with the style and formation he champions. It would work if EVERYBODY is playing at the top of their game (which is why players are dropped with the slightest of knocks) but it doesn't allow for anything else.
