I think it's more a case of people not stopping on Lucas as they've been on his case since second one let alone day one.
He's a decent player, but not going to single-handedly win the game. Liverpool lost because the TEAM didn't play well, not because "Lucas is sh1te". There were many supposedly better players who gave away free-kicks, corners and most importantly possession while doing nothing when we were in possession.
Or put another way, who deserves more criticism - Lucas for his og or Gerrard for his stupid, senseless foul that sealed an away win for the villans? Gerrard's foul undoubtedly, the circumstances as well as the fact that he is cult hero and therefore more is expected. There are some players who simply won't be blamed, there is also the manager who doesn't get blame as it is often shifted on the owners. Did the owners force Rafa to spend £5m on Lucas..................?
Youre absolutely right about Gerrards foul being shocking. Hed already make a shocking tackle just before this as well. Yet theres no way Rafa would have dragged him off
I actually feel sorry for Lucas. He has so much expectation on him from a crowd who have been spoiled for decades with the best midfielders in the world.
Sadly he is not even average. I asked my cousin last night to tell me what Lucas is good at, what are his strengths? He had no answer and that sums it up. He is not good enough for Liverpool and it is like watching a car crash when he performs like he did last night. Like Babel, if he was going to show us what he was capable of he would have done it by now...
