riera is a quality player and in my book, we should keep him, he has done well in the confederations cup, silva can play on the left with his left foot, which he usually decides to go outside and cross the ball whereas on the right he cuts inside, and he has been utilised by valencia as a centre attacking mid, so i think there wud b space for him and riera, especially if gerrard and him were played as left and right attacking mids behind torres play a 4:3:2:1 , with riera and kuyt on the right and left and also use xabi/mascherano as a centre mid thats my perspective n e ways!, probs sooooo wrong n e ways!! bt to hell with it

Why the :censored: has Rafa not been using him? We had so much more going forward when he was playing last year. By the time he gets back in the team we will be 12 points of the pace.

There is something going on with Riera.

Thats 3 game splayed in the PL and he hasnt played in one. This is a guy who is a regular in the Spanish team and he cant get past Ryan Babel in the Liverpool team. Something is up. Is it that he cant play because he is going to be sold and therefore not being risked because of the threat of injury?

Time will tell

Is Rafa keeping him wrapped in cotton wool for a sneaky move to Barca before the window shuts? He just said the other day we can't lose any more players. What is going on.

It is indeed a bit strange. Would have been ideal to bring on yesterday imo, as he adds considerably more skill to our team than Babel (and he's got quite a good shot on him aswell).

Maybe something to do with one of Riera's closest friends dying recently ?? Could be affecting his game/motivation

So glad to see him back out there, had a great game against Bolton and was just what we needed down the left.  Unfortunately the rest of the team looked like sht for the majority of the time he was on the pitch so we still didn't look all that great.

Big fan of what this guy brings to us, great, great signing.  Just needs to get fit and stay healthy.

People talk about missing Alonso but we have missed Albert presence just as much imo. He gives us so many more options going forward. Good to see him back.

On his day he is a brilliant player.

But not very consistent. Probably our best option for the left wing.
