Just cause someone votes No. . . hardly makes them/me a complete #####r,its posting thing like that that does :veryangry

My reasons are a lot like the other No Votes

1. he is injury prone

2. waste of wages (just for some1 who'd be on treatment table most of season)

3. He wanted away for Madrid & made LFC let him go on the cheap by running his contract down      Oh just like he is doing @ Toon.

4. Had chance to return but choose Toon over us

I know being a football player is a short career & i dont blame him for wanting to make as much money as he can while he can,
Hell im sure 99% of us would leave our jobs if poached with offer of better wages elsewhere!

But prefer players who want to play for the club, players like Stevie G & Carra . . . .The Robbie Fowlers!

He might be cheap to buy but im sure his wages wouldnt be, he wouldnt sign on a pay per play basis

if rafa is willing to sign unproven unheard of trash from italy, why not pay wages? besides if money is such an issue, why pay the wages of a player when u dont use him at all - pennant?

rush leaving was a totally different set of circumstances . You cannot compare the two . And max you cant suddenly stop paying a player hence why he wanted to sell him . And who is this trash your talking about ?

Dossena  :D unbelievable really. i was watching the match and for a moment i was wondering is Mendy really that good or is Doss just rubbish. isnt that Bernard Mendy the former french international from PSG?

but imo owen will do good he really will. he and guthrie just scored earlier and they were good goals. i really dont care about his wages if he contributes to us winning the title and this season apart from the others we really have a good chance  :buttrock

Would you play him alongside Torres (when fit)?
For me too much alike, plus id be more worried how often he would spend on physio bench than on pitch :(

But if a choice of Owen or Heskey comming back id take Owen  :D

jesus . Owen scores a couple of goals while he is fit for more than two weeks and all of a sudden he is the saviour to our season and we need him ? ! Ffs he will be injured in a week and be out for another couple of months . Bloody crazy . And now guthrie ? ! Who next ? Mellor ? Camara ?

the only problem is that when he's fit, owen scores goals wherever he plays, be it at LFC, real madrid or newcastle... yeah compare him to mellor and camara...  :lookaround ... and he sure beats your favourite player kuyt...  :;):

(GYBS @ Dec. 14 2008,16:37)
how do people know he will cost two million . And the guy is a massive risk . We can spend that money and then he gets injured and he is out for another season . The guy is 29 , his body is on its last legs in football terms .

I don't imagine he would be available for as little as £2 million to be honest, I imagine Spurs, Everton and Villa would all be interested so if he was to go in January, i'd expect the fee to be more in the region of £5-7 million. As for the question you ask about the risk of signing him for that type of money?

- At £2 million where is the risk? that's less than Josemi and Nunez cost the club.

- At £3-4 million that's less than Gonzalez cost the club.

- At £5-6 million that's less than Dossena and Lucas cost the club.

I don't see a risk. I can fully understand those who felt betrayed when he left the club for Madrid, particularly the circumstances in which he left, and that is their prerogative. BUT I can't see how anyone can cite football reasons for not bringing him back to the club? I don't think it will happen because Benitez would never play Owen and Torres together in the same side, it is not his way, and never will be. However, there is no doubt for me (and most I think) that Michael Owen IS AN UPGRADE ON EVERY FORWARD WE HAVE AT THE CLUB BAR TORRES. It's a fact.

The signing of Fowler a couple of years ago energized the crowd and woke up the Kop. Owen could have the same effect at a very timely stage of the season, not to mention the boost it would give to the likes of Gerrard, Carra and Sami. Although it's probably a moot point because, as Kinnear said he would rather keep the player and give themselves the best chance of avoiding relegation and his words 'what price do you put on safety?'.I don't think he will go anywhere unless someone comes in with a decent bid or he throws his toys out of the pram.
