So chuffed for Keane today. Too much proven quality there for the drought to have carried on for much longer.

I'd give Keane a run in the team now that he's scoring. I know we tried resting him for the very next game the last time he scored two goals, but I hope that this time we resist that particular temptation. It can't really be said to really have worked then, and I'm far from convinced it would now to be honest either. Being the old traditionalist that I am, I think playing a striker who's on a bit of a streak of form whenever and wherever you can is generally the way to go.

Hopefully we give this a try with Keane, and his confidence continues to grow. It's got to be worth a try I reckon.

Keane is Benitez' Diouf.

Agreed BigMick.

He should be fit enough to start on sunday as he has had a good amount of rest.

We could benefit from his good form at a very crucial point in the season.

Although, I can't help but wonder if Rafa played him 90 min so that Torres could be fully rested and ready to start at Newcastle.

On the subject of Torres, even if he is 100% fit (which is very unlikely) I would still play Keane in every game at the moment. That would mean we are either going to have to change the system to a 4-4-2 with two genuine strikers (as opposed to either Gerrard or Kuyt filling the second striker spot), or introduce Torres more gradually. To drop Keane as of now though would be crazy I think.

Back to 4-4-2 for me when Torres is fit, no question. Him and Keane up top.

Gerrard was fine today too in his midfield role, made some great passes. Who to play on the right though? Benny wasn't bad at all today and Insua has already proven to be 3 times the player that poor old Dossena is (was).

1. I am one of the "not-so-keen-about-keane" fan (due to the fact that he cost us 20M!) BUT I am really happy for him today.
2. I hope that he continues that sort of performance. In order to do that, he needs to capitalize all the time he gets be them 90 mins, 60 mins, or 30 mins.
3. Coz if he doesn't, fans like me will still keep on bashing.

Well in son! :buttrock

I think Keane's not thinking as much about what he's doing and being a bit more instinctive. Maybe Petar did lend him his brain  :D

Rafa would be crazy to drop Keane on sunday. Keane plays best as the supporting striker so if he can continue in this role, we will continue to reap the rewards. Both Keane and Benny played superbly yesterday so it would make sense to retain them. I know Kuyt will start against Newcastle whether or not he plays well or not but I hope it will not be at the expense of either Keane or Benny (in case Torres is fit enough to start).

Why?

That would mean Rafa changing his methods.

He should now get to play the next three games for me, I think he's a cert to score one or two in the next three if he actually plays.

Lets see if "the boss" decides to play him, wouldn't suprise me to see him benched next game.

Quality player and not surprised he's started scoring. It was obvious to me he was going to start scoring sooner or later.

Nice one Keane :)

did the boss drop torres when he was scoring ? Or gerrard or kuyt ? Has he even dropped keane at all as opposed to resting him or rotating him ? Play on words .would he of dropped or rested your beloved cheyrou ? What are these methods you keep going on about ?
