Sorry doesn't wash.

:D Stu can be whatever you want, but no one call him fickle.

Myself I've seen too many teams collapsing around the globe in the second half of the league to say we are challenging for the title, BUT, I don't think what the team has achieved now has been luck. We've been the first team to beat Chelsea at their home in many games, we have 33 points in 14 games... no, that's not luck. Anyone who says it's luck, it doesn't wash. Especially when we have faced problems with injuries.

But that doesn't mean we've proved we can maintain that through out the season. When Real Madrid loses Van Horse Roy, they bring the man who doesn't play much, their Ngog. But their Ngog is named Saviola. We don't have that depth upfront.

We still have to show a lot of things, but lucky until now? not at all.

Sabre of course its not all luck mate. We've got Riera, Gerrard, Xabi, Torres, Keane, Reina and Carragher playing for us. But we've had more than our fair share, look at the players missing for Chelsea when we played them.

Look how many players sent off against us this season, Man Utd, Chelsea and City games all produced what you would describe as lucky goals in our favour. Obviously you need luck to win a title, no matter how good you are. But you need the quality aswell. I personally feel our luck has been greater than our quality this season, you also only have to look at the goal difference in Chelsea and Liverpool to see who the better side is by a distance. I am telling you now, this side as it is and with this manager will never win the league. No matter how close we come, it'll never be close enough.

Well we have been lucky up till now, to deny that would be silly IMHO. That doesn't mean we are top of the league (joint) purely because of luck, but we have had more than our fair share up till now I should think. Put it this way, I'd be extremely surprised if we continued having the same bounce of the ball all the way through the season that we have enjoyed so far. Just to reiterate though before some numpty goes off on one, I am not saying the only reason we are up there is through luck, I'm simply saying we've had plenty so far.

As far as the title challenge is concerned, I note that Igor is saying that we are in the middle of it and good luck to him. Two weeks ago I said the same thing but you weren't allowed to say so then, indeed Igor was one of the people who got a bit nervous about jinxing our chances. The whole thread disappeared such was the determination not to "get ahead of ourselves", but I haven't changed my view that we are in the middle of a full and authentic title challenge. Whatever happens from here on in, we have already announced our challenge by winning at Stamford Bridge IMHO (without the aid of any luck whatsoever).

Anyway once it becomes OK to talk about such things, someone should start a thread on it. It'd probably be quite a good one.

Maybe i put the question wrong , i don't know . I'll put it another way then . Do you stu (or anyone else for that matter ) think that it would make sense to "GET RID" of the manager at this moment in time , given the position why find ourselves in ? Be it by luck , genius or feckin divine intervention .

Not me, I'm all for giving the manager an extension to his contract. Now we've seemingly sorted out once and for all the selectorial "issues" that we had, I have no doubts we will go very close to winning the Premiership if not actually win it with this manager at the helm. He is now doing a great job, and we should tie him into a longer deal.

Well, the luck thingy can be discussed, although I struggle to understand how having 3 injuries of the striker that gave you another edge last season is lucky. No, not everything has been good luck this season.

On the other question, well, we're better than we have been the last 19 years, so yes, Keeping the current manager seems the best idea of the last 19 years.

everytime we change the manager #19 seems farther away cause we have to go through yet another 5 year plan, change in staff, etc.
stick with Rafa, he seems to have learned from his mistakes and is sticking with a team that plays week in week out with each other thus the familiarity is there.

If we had a manager who bought the right players first time round then we wouldn't have to wait for a 5 year plan. Either that or we have an owner who CAN afford to buy top class players all round. But we don't have either so it is always going to be hit and miss with us.

I thought this was the Robbie Keane thread and not the let's have a go at Benitez thread! To call Rafa a CLOWN is not just disrespectful and ungrateful it also suggests that you are indeed a unique individual that never makes mistakes. Of course Rafa makes mistakes but please assess him on his overall performance and not a few inevitable errors.

Robbie Keane has an opportunity over the next three to four weeks to prove his worth and cement our position in the premiership. I for one really wish him all the luck in the world and hope that all his incredibly hard work begins to produce some goals! COME ON ROBBIE KEANE !!!!!!!!!!!!
