sell - Pennant, Voronin, Benayoun, Lucas, Doss, Martin and Itandge
give more playing time to - Nemeth, Pacheco, Insua, El Zhar, Plessis and Darby.

we could buy a right winger (Jakub Blazczykowski from Dortmund) but i think our supposed starlets will need the platform to bloom into players that they were bought to be. the best way for them to improve and mature as a player is by playing first team games and though they may struggle initially, it will build their charactor. im all for advocating the young ones.

Would definately get rid of Benayoun and Pennant, Neither are goos enough in my view and only collecting wages and restricting the opportunities of the younger players!

Cash in on Veronin and that tube Dossena, looks fat and out of his depth so far!

Anyone else thinking the Carragher may play one of the full back berths when Skrtel  comes back from injury, Agger gives so much for the team and Carragher is actually a very good attacking full back who puts in some great crosses!

Cash in on Voronin? I wonder if we could even raise 1Million for him. As for Dossena I wonder if we could even get half of the 8mil we paid. Hopefully he asks to return to Italy in the summer.

As for the person that said Man U can spend big on just one player, so can we.  We spent what 7m on Dossena 8m on Riera and 20m on Keane?  Somewhere around there it adds up to 35m, 5 more than what was spent on Berbatov.  Although I think we were better off buying 3 instead of 1 since our squad isn't as strong as Man U's we should go for high quality more often instead of usually going for quantity.

But in order spend that 35 M we sold:
Crouch - 9 M
Riise - 4 M
Finnan- ?
- And significantly lost Kewell's bloated salary off the books.

ManU who spent 30 M on Berbatov and didn't sell anyone added 30 M to their list while we added around 15M.

The reality is our budget is consistent half what Chelsea and United spend.

not to open up the same old discussion or anything but if u do the research u'll find out that in terms of net spending since rafa took over, we'v outspent manutd and arsenal and are probably not that far off chelsea either...
a case of too many bad buys and thus the need to sell or else the squad is simply too big and lacking in quality..

I just did my research and since 2004, unless I'm missing something, I have ManU's net spending somewhere in the vicinity of 50 M above ours and that's with Tevez still to come.

This argument has been done before and it always amazes people when S@int proves via stats that we really ought not to be complaining too much about transfer budgets. Usually at this point somebody says, "Yeah but what about the players they bought BEFORE this period FFS? . Rio Ferdinand and blokes like that" (they don't always get angry about it I just put that bit in to give it a bit more drama).

I can't remember off the top of my head what the answer is to that one. Ah yes, I've got it, it's "feck off you numpty  :D ".

interesting stats saint and ones not seen before . The thing that stands out for me is rafa having to stretch the money on numerous players where as man utd spent it on a fewer amount off players . Rafa has had to totally change the squad bar three players and taggert has just been able to add and tinker with big money buys to a solid squad already there .
