Great football yet again from Russia today, totally outclassed Holland in attack and didn't let them get their game going.

Told you we could reach the semi-finals Dawson.  Anything is possible with Hiddink and a young talented team.

Sort out the defence mate . 4-1  :eyebrow

Bantering aside mate, CONGRATULATIONS. Some top football today, and the previous two matches.

And against Spain, you just failed in the back, too naive. But if you had got a 1-0, it would have been a different game.

Yeah I know, in the first match we were too naive.  The whole team was too nervous and we played too high up the pitch.  Hiddink however did a great job at sorting out the tactics and you could see how different the team was after that.  They were chasing every Dutch player around the pitch and not allowing them to create anything.  Anyway thanks for the congrats, and I'm really looking forward to tomorrow.

Great team, but strange tactics by Van Basten.  He really should have left Kuyt on because that screwed up the balance of your team.  In the end you should be really proud of your players, because they really lit up the tournament this year with some unbelievable football.

What a goal.

^ You said it. Unbelievable performance again.

I don't think anyone can say such a team should've signed him before the tournament as Zenith probably wanted to wait until after the Euro's. Given his form for Zenith - particularly in the UEFA cup, it was unlikely that he'd have gone on to have a poor tournament, and his value certainly wouldn't have decreased - the only way it could've gone is up. It's the same with Villa in many respects, there's no way his value would've decreased because of the tournament, signing players like these two before EURO 2008 was never realy an option, IMO.

If Arshavin was £10-12m before the tournament, he's probably £20m now.

Fantastic performance by Russia btw, they absolutely demolished the Dutch in every respect.

Cheer up, I know well what you feel, I've felt all my life that as a Spaniard.

You have to be proud of not being a very populated country yet you have always great talent.

I don't think you can blame the player's will today, IMHO it was more Van Basten's tactical mistakes, and of course, the quality of the Russians and Hiddin's spot on plan.

They Russians didn't chase every player but the correct ones. We learned today that the correct thing to do with Holland is not to wait them but to press them high in the pitch. The Russians pressed the start of play of the Dutch and they did so by pressing the less comfortable guys in the ball. The wingers thus were never activated. That Russian RB that ended up exhausted made a hell of a game, Snejder only appeared when he was subbed.

But I don't think the players are to blame today, it's just that football is sometimes about getting right the plan of the game and that's football really. Cheer up, Holland's football will be respected the next two years.

Not seen a great deal of him before the Euro's but he looks top quality. Fast, clever player and looks as if he has the eye for a good pass too.

The only question marks still remaining for me are that he is small, and Russian (possible language, culture probs?)

Certainly impressed me more than Silva up to now.

I was surprised Robben didn't come on tonight, was he injured?

Feck me, what a tournament this is turning into.  Three quality attacking squads out on their ears in the QFs and Russia emerging as the surprise outfit of the tournament.  And what an outfit.  Young, hungry, technically gifted, well organized and capable of both sumptious attacking play and solid defense.  Whoever prevails tomorrow--and God let it be Spain**--will not want to play this lot on current form.  Of course, that's what people were saying about the Dutch up until today so who knows.

Arshavin.  What can be said that hasn't been said?  Really, really impressed with this lad's all around play.  I have serious doubts that we'll have the ability to sign him now, though (if we were ever in the mix).  But hope springs eternal that he will turn out to be the surprise that Ballague was hinting at.

**Not just because of the Liverpool connection but because the last thing the semi-finals of this tournament needs is the stolid play of the Italians.  After watching so many exciting young teams fall by the wayside this round, I'll be gutted if we don't see some fresh  blood in the final.  An Italy-Germany title match would be cruel. :no

Pavlyuchenko stand up!! What a player!
Everyone knew about Arshavin before it started, there was talk about a great Rushian player.
To me it all should go one way!
He would probably be :censored: in our League if given the chance,a great display of national pride from this player!
Fight for the cause like England players dont! :D
