The thing I don't understand about Arshavin, is he used to play with Skrtel before we bought him, surely our scouts must have noticed him while they were scouting Skrtel? Secondly I have often wondered whether when we buy a player, if we ask them about any good players at their previous club?

Presumably after buying Skrtel we were skint so couldn't make an offer for Arshavin as well.

Saint you read my mind i was thinkin the same thing.

Still a good player though

Yeh, spain will dominate, then italy will get some lucky random goal or something to win the game.

Hope you're right mate. I'm 32 already, and I have suffered a lot with the national squad.

Perhaps in 1982 was too young to care when Barry's country mates beat Spain at our very home, and what's more insulting, after being drinking beers and having a swim in the swimming pool :D

I remember de 1984 Euro final, our last success

And then I remember Belgium QF game in 1986, Yugoslavia in 1990, Italy in 1994, etc etc, etc, etc. I don't suffer any more. Now if we win I'll be happy as fúck, but I've lost the ability to feel nervous which I used to have.

All the teams that cruised through the groups have struggled, maybe because they rested players for their final group game and disrupted their teams? Rotation ? Spain rested most of their players too didn't they.......  :p

I know (or I think) you're joking but some football men say that seriously!!

Steffan Effenberg, remember? He is more antirotationist than Bigmick!! He has said in an interview that the reason Portugal lost in QF is that they rested a lot of players! He's of the opinion the best eleven must be always in the pitch! And considers what Aragones has done a mistake!

I want to say something about Luca Toni, a striker that hasn't scored so far but has all my respect as a footballer. He's the classic "9", strong in the air, and he has all my respect.

I hope we're not under a case like the one of Paolo Rossi in 1982, in which he didn't score at the beginning of the tournament but later excelled at the end.

Very good striker, and classic at that.

Kolodin (sp ?) . Not suggesting we sign him but his two "cruise missile" attempts at the dutch goal last night have been amongst my favourite moments of the tournament so far.
