Nothing new about Drogbas antics, the sooner he fcks off the better.

He wouldnt have done it to Gerrard, Carra or Skrtel though they would have tw@tted him everywhere.

Picks his marks him.

Sh!t house.

I don't mind a bit of tough tackling, but his knee in the ribs and the off the ball elbows and rakes were the stuff of a coward, makes me sick how he acts as though he is a tough guy. c u n t .

Seeing how Torres has reacted to roughousing this season, I fully expect a goal from him next week. I'm laying on 1-0 and 2-0 to us, Torres to get the goal(s).

its obvious that since the anfield game where torres and terry first met that terry is hugely unsettled by him. his only resort is to try his idiotic bully boy tactics, wankker that he is. the good thing is that torres is up for the battle and refuses to be intimidated. its just a shame he choked a little last night and couldn 't ram it down his face with the goal, possibly two, that he ought to have scored. but as i said earlier, the disgraceful knee into the ribs when torres was on the ground needs to be investigated.

Still upset from last night. I thought that we genuinely deserved the win even though Chelsea definitively improved after the break for Aurelio's injury and Kalou added some pace. I was very angry at Riise for the own goal at the time as I've seen him try the diving header back to keeper in a similar position in the past and causing a few scares: if I recall he did it last year against Chelsea as well and also in the Barcelona home game. It just shows that his confidence in general is down as he simply did not have the confidence to swing his right foot at it. Attempting to head the ball when its about six inches off the ground was crazy but we have to live with it I guess. While my initial reaction was anger at Riise these things simply happen: that's football, who would have thought Zidane would have ended his career the way he did?

Avram Grant looked completely bewildered and half witted at the end, his reaction was quite funny if you were a neutral as he must be the luckiest manager around.

I guess its still half time but the advantage is definitely with Chelsea and if I was a betting man I would call the next game a 0-0 with us giving Chelsea more than a few nervous moments. However, the task of going to Stamford Bridge and getting a result against Grant is not as daunting as it was against Mourinho and solace can be taken from Chelsea's performance against Fenerbache in the last round when Fenerbache should really have knocked them out at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea also have UTD to come in between and here's hoping that game will take a lot out of them.

We can do it but my worry is that Chelsea will drop back very deep and keep it very tight and if they show no adventure in the return leg it will be very difficult to get past Terry and Carvalho.

In fairness I absolutely know I'm going to get slaughtered here, but while I can't abide Drogba's playacting and nonsense I didn't find Terry's treatment of Torres either surprising nor particularly annoying. It's the semi-finals of the Champions League we're talking about here, it's still a mans game despite the authorities attempts to sanitise it all the time and Terry's tactics were IMHO a legitimate ploy to unsettle a top-class striker. Infact THE one part of the whole thing which I do find a little frustrating is that like when Man Utd got into Torres on both occasions we've played them this season, it does appear to me that our star striker has still to find a resounding answer when teams really face him up.

I've said a couple of times, it's exactly how I'd set up to defend against him myself. You'd look to hound him when he's in non-dangerous areas, berate him if he goes to ground cheaply, kick him, hurt him, hold him, frustrate him and ask the question of him physically and mentally. Ask him to look into his soul and see if the desirte burns bright enough. Distract him verbally, fire him up with insults, encourage him to chase lost causes out on the wings. You'd hope that if you got into him enough, when a chance does present itself so keen would he be to bury the taunts down your throat that perhaps he'd misfire. A momentary loss of control, a fraction of hesitation or a "safe" finish, too close to the goalkeeper or not hit with enough power.

There is one certainty the way I see it. Torres can expect plenty more of the same in the second leg. What's more, unless and until he can find a more convincing answer in these huge clashes, he will find that next season other teams adopt the same tactics. Ferdinand and Vidic have unsettled him, Terry and Carvallho have got under his skin also. Sometimes the secret is a colder mental approach, to actually care less and not more. Had Torres taken one of the three or four chances he was given last night, the tie would probably be over. We must hope that if a similar opportunity presents itself in the second leg that he rediscovers his dead-eyed finishing prowess. I think he will, but you can absolutely bet that Terry will be trying to put him off while he's doing it. It's what good defenders do.

And dont get me started on John feckin Terry what a horrible dirty yard dog bully kunt.
His treatment of Torres was a disgrace.

Drogba is really a disgrace... can't imagine anyone that big and strong go down like a kitten whenever someone touches him... unbelieveable... I will be ashamed of myself if I acted like that when I watch the game back on the telly...

Maybe torres should start rolling around on the floor ,at the slightest touch, like drogba the big fanny fart. Might just get us a few more free kicks in and around the penalty area. Chelsea are bunch of cheating tw@ts and i sincerely hope we knock the feckers out next week . I always had a feeling that we were going to have to score at there ground ,so last nights result hasn't changed a thing really.

By the way i threw  half a can of fosters at the telly last night when i saw that fat texan tw@t attemting to sing YNWA, what a feckin embarrasment. Did anyone else see the kn@b'ed.? :no  :veryangry

good post, but ive highlight this bit as it is my thoughts as well. They're gonna have essien back for the 2nd leg and I believe they'll play essien and makele infront on the back four, play very tight and look to hit us on the break with drogba and cole.

for the next leg I'd actually propose starting with yossi instead of babel, as there won't be as much space and they will be sitting back more, he'll also keep posession better and is just as much of a goal threat

Do they not know who they're playing?

If there was/is one team you would out a thousand pounds on beating some pathetic nomark record like that, you'd have your money on Liverpool.  We need to score next week.  We will score.  You'd bank on us to do it.  Chelsea fucking know it as well and will prepare for it.  Never mind all this b*ll*c*ks that we haven't scored a meaningful goal there since Bruno Cheyrou.  Wait 'til next week.  Different story mate.

There's something special about us as a club.  When we won in Istanbul, we needed to be 0-3 down against AC Milan to come back and win.  I can't describe it when it comes to supporting Liverpool, but you need to have a bit of a spiritual belief in times like this.

If you're still reading, I actually live in Liverpool and know at least four people (maybe you know more) who have already booked flights to Moscow, and two of them are going to London next Wednesday.  That's what we're about, and exactly what makes us (to coin a song) have hope in our hearts.

We're better than Chelsea.  (Like we needed to...) we proved it tonight, and we'll prove it next week.

We never do things the easy way, all Riise's goal does is make the second leg a little more tense. We will still go through.

Sadly, the own goal is the talking point today rather than the overall quality performance.  Had we been a little bit more lethal/lucky in front of goal and we could be taking a comfortable lead to the Bridge.  As it stands our task is crystal clear: we need to score.  That's good in its way: no hesitancy about whether to stick or twist--just an understanding that we need to kick the door down from the off.  Terry and Carvalho will no doubt attempt to smother Torres while Makalele is going to shadow Gerrard all night.  That may mean that someone else will need to step up and find the net for us.  It also means that Torres and Gerrard need to play smart.  If they aren't getting a sniff themselves they need to be making runs that create space for others in dangerous areas.  Dragging a CB and the holding midfielder away from the "D" should give more room to players like Babel, Kuyt, Alonso and Masch to have a crack at goal or to orchestrate a move to get into the box.  I trust Rafa will be working on just that issue this coming week and I back us to break our (recent) scoring duck at the Bridge and win out when all is said and done.

I believe Rafa will come out with another tactical master-stroke at the Bridge next week. He always does.
Remember last year's semi anyone? In the second leg, that free kick from Gerrard came straight out of the training ground as Ager slotted home the equalizer.

Rafa and his boys WILL do it again.  :buttrock

I'm quietly confident in the lads. I know we can do it. It's gonna be a historic European night at Stamford Bridge - We're gonna break our goal drought, and their undefeated streak at the venue.

And no Terry. Thank fark. No farkers aloud.
