With your track record?
Yes English players fail as well, who said they didn't? I bang on about lads from these shores because they're players I see week in week out, I don't bother with european football because it doesn't concern me or Liverpool's position in the league now does it? I couldn't give a toss about how well David Villa is doing at Valencia or how badly mickey mouse is doing for LA Galaxy, it doesn't concern me. So I suggest english based players (including lads from abroad who play
You also constantly imply that signing a player from abroad is a greater risk (presumably because you 'don't like foreigners'), otherwise, you'd see no need for comments like this: "We've seen first hand how players can do it spain but not england."
No doubt you'll come out with some shit about how 'that's all I was saying' when you know very well that wasn't the implied meaning of the comment, which is and was - signing foreigners are a greater risk than British players.
Well signing a lad from abroad is a greater risk.
We sign Josemi and Kromkamp from abroad, they can't cut it, we sign Finnan from a British side (fulham in his case) and he's a great servant to the club. That's just one example.
Yes there is a risk with every little transfer, whether they come from abroad or from the British Isles. If you like, there's it's less of a risk because the don't have the excuse of "time to settle in" or "get used to the climate change", so you can be pretty sure that the player will settle down a lot quicker and there's more chance of instant success.
You sign Torres for 20 million plus, he's got to deal with the circus that comes with such a hefty transfer fee, he's got to adjust to the ways of life in Britain, he's got to learn a new language and he's got to try and adjust to the ways of the British way of football...huge risk and could easily backfire, fortunately he hasn't because he's a world class player. You sign Michael Owen for 20 million plus, he's got the same transfer fee to deal with, but he doesn't have to adjust to the football life or everyday life and he doesn't have to learn a new language. It'd be much easier for Owen (or any other British based player) to settle down and play his game than Torres (or any other lad from abroad).
Is that difficult for you to understand? I guess it probably is.
