But what are the skills that makes Kuyt such a great winger?

Does he has a hatful of tricks in his bag?
Does he have great dribbling skills?
Ok, but what about pace to burn past a defender?
Ok, but a great early cross then?
But then he must be great at picking out teammates
with creative forward passes?
At least a great 1st touch to take care of crosses out right then?

Kuyt doesn't tick one of these boxes and still he should our 1st team starter in every game like vs Stoke at home?

His defensive work will sure save us then when they park the bus in front of goal....

please god save me....

But he doesnt play as an old school winger, in the 4 2 3 1 he plays as a wide forward/Striker, and yes he's good at it. I think we'll see Ngog play their too.

Kuyt isnt a winger and never claimed to be - he is an attacking right forward/right midfielder .

No he cant dribble or burn past defenders at ease - but pennant and gonzo did that and meant feck all .

Yes he does have a great early cross and last season torres scored a few goals of some of kuyts crosses.

Look at the way he played during the last couple months for us and then again in the euros - creating and scoring - what more does anyone want ?

just think kuyt offers a lot more to the team and squad than a lot of people give him credit for - he had a good first season and was out top prem goalscorer then last year he had a few probs - prob due to the fact his father died then he picked up in the second half of the season - kuyt going to be a key player as well as others this year

I would prefer Kuyt over Bellamy any day of the week in the squad, however, Kuyt is certainly not the partner for Torres, two different players that do not in anyway compliment each other.

I'm not one to foolishly put all my eggs in one basket, and will hope that if need be, Robbie Keane can not only partner Torres but could potentially be used as his back-up. While I don't hope that Torres will one day rival Owen's fitness levels I don't think it's safe to assume that he will always be able to stay clear of injury and lack of fitness (knock on wood).

:no , letting your personaal biasness of kuyt get in the way , he's not the perfect winger but he was our top scorer in the champions league , he got 7 assist in the leagur and only started playing as a winger near January , he's hardworking , plays for that badge on the shirt week in and week out , never gives up and pratically got us into the champions league semi finals with superb performances against inter and arsenal .
