Torres ideal partner? - 10-12mill tops

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Benzema just signed a new contract with Lyon, an extension until 2012 or something like that, and is also quoted as saying he would prefer Spain or Italy to England, tho then again if the money was waved in front of him by an english club, he could be persuaded!!

I think Babel should be played up front with torres, there was a good point made there about lack of pace, its so true of our forward line its unreal. I like Crouch, don't get me wrong but when you look at the pace of Torres and how effective he is with his pace and running, when you see Crouch comes on its like watching slow motion. If you look at some of the runs that Babel has been making lately at defenders and unleashing shots, I think his potential is frightening. All he needs is to just get the final shot a bit better and he'd be scoring a lot of goals.

A new contract just means a higher transfer fee...

Exactly, I think Crouch is in his last year of his contract (correct me if I'm wrong) and I get the feeling Crouch wants to go on a free.

I can't say I blame him, he's been treated pretty poorly by Rafa who keeps him on the bench, and Rafa doesn't even bother trying him against Man United whil we were still 1-0 down.

you could say he's been poorly treated but then again, how do you leave out Torres and with Rafa sticking with a winning 4-2-3-1 formula we can hardly complain.

I think he'll be gone this summer and Voronin (hopeully) with him!

I more have a problem with him persisting with Kuyt at the front of the 4-4-2 formation. They were having issues, I'm not sure why he didn't just try Crouch a bit more.

I think he should have been played instead of Kuyt, of course with the new formation, Kuyt is preferable to Torres, but we dropped too many points in the meantime.

yea well defo if he was sticking with the 4-4-2 formation then Crouch would have to be ahead of Kuyt but with the formation he's playing at the minute Kuyt is obviously preferred but I think if he's going to stick with this formation then we should definately be looking for someone to takes Kuyt place there on the right, cos he just isnt clinical enough with the final ball. Look at the Inter away game, he got into decent positions on a number of occassions and his decision making was poor each time

I would love to see Santa Cruz with Torres... quick counter!
with the agility.. and the power to control the ball.. awesome-o  stick with the 4-3-1-2

Francesco Totti I thik would be good. He also has a fair bit of fire in him considering his recent comments against UEFA. I still think that last season he was a better player than Kaka.

If we play 4-2-3-1 next season Torres wont have a partner, in any case if Benitez does play with 2 up front Berbatov who would break the bank would be ideal, but couldn't go wrong with a Henry or Raul even Van Nistelrooy or Viduka, if availible Benzema is amazing and could slot in anywhere in any team, not sure how he would play alongside Torres but Luis Fabiano from Seville is scoring a goal a game at the moment.

IMO Torres needs someone he can feed off as much as David Villa and Aguero are great players I think Torres would spend too much time with his back to goal partnering these two although if Benitez sticks with 4-2-3-1 they would both slot in nicely either side of Gerrard.

Um, I think we'd have a better chance at buying Ronaldhinho or Kaka.   Totti will never leave Roma, he's turned down like a thousand offers from different clubs.

I know there are a lot of choices out there but I think that we should look at Podolski and Gomez from Germany as well.  I really like German and Dutch players, they're are really dedicated, hard working players who will fight until the end.  That's what we need more of in our team.

people say crouch has been treated unfairly by benitez but it was benitez that gave crouch a chance at a big club gave him champions league football and helped him win a sh.it load of england caps... to say benitez has treated him unfairly is boll.ocks, hes just up against torres in this new formation that prior the utd game was doing just fine.... so anyone saying crouch has been treated unfairly ask yourself this question crouch or torres?.... exactly

good shouts on here for babel to be moved up front but if that was the case i feel we would need to buy a left-winger as well as a right-winger

names mentioned:

luis fabiano - big fan of his and would love to see it, people say he might go to spurs because of ramos but please hes not stupid he would choose us any day of the week

benzema - great talent, probally the best player in france and very young too but i can see him joining utd or chelsea

david villa - another great player but how much would he cost?? and can he play with torres?? imo he would either be a great success or a massive failure

steven fletcher - pmsl...please mate

luca toni - big strong goal scorer and i think he would be a good partner for torres but cant see him being cheap and is getting on

podolski - great talent, young but has not been at his best this season and has failed to play regular football because of the klose toni partnership, unsure about him basically because i havent seen him play much

totti - one of the world best players imo and i would love to see him here but maybe hes too old for the money he would cost

I suppose if we have to chase a game, it would be nice to be able to throw 2 up front and make sure that Torres is comfortable with that.

I'd like Ribery's versatility but I think we have no chance of getting him from Bayern.
