At the end of the day its not like this refinancing deal has happened over night. G&H knew the figures they would be securing so if they were willing to fork out they would have said so ages ago to Masch and his agent. Had that happened you wouldnt have heard any such comments what we are hearing from his agent. I think hes off and theres nothing we can do about it.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

well G&H knows that if masch leaves, they will be under more pressure from the fans... the question is whether they will care or not... I have a funny feeling that they do care... this kind of relationship with the fans is not good at all for them and they maybe learning that now... as for rafa, I think his days are sealed... I don't suppose I will be seeing rafa next season at our club... big mistake...

as for mash saying those things, I don't blame him at all, he had repeatedly said that the was happy at liverpool and wanted to stay. Rafa had already made his intentions known that he wants wants mash.the owners are the ones that refused to budge... under this kind of spite it is well within his rights to spite back... it is not directed at LFC, it is directed at the owners who refused to sanction his permanent deal...

This player has the potential to be as good as Makalele has been, hes the same sort of player. To show the class he has shown so quickly for us and so young is rare.He plays with experiece way above his years, just how good will he be in another 2or3 seasons?

I dont see the problem in signing him,if Juve give us £8mill for Sissoko we should pay that off Masch! The company that 'own' Mascherano will accept the £17m in 4 installments...so wheres the problem?

If we let Mascherano slip through our fingers LFC will live to regret it.And if we can get £8m for Sissoko it makes £17m for Masch look a bargain, hes ten times the player already than Momo will ever be!
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I agree with you, it will be madness to let Mascherano slip through out hands, he a World Class, and really LFC should get rid off some :censored: artists the likes of Kewell, Kuyt, Voronin, Leto, Aurelio  in order to raise some funds, (those players are just dead meat) LFC will never be benifit from them as long as they stay in the club and earn top wages, where they shouldn't have, they do not worth it.:( :(

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is confident Argentina international midfielder Javier Mascherano will be staying at Anfield.

The World Cup 2006 star has been on loan with the Reds since January 2007, and his 18-month deal runs out in the summer.

So far Liverpool have failed to pick up the £17million option to buy him outright, and now Italian giants Juventus are reportedly interested.

But Benitez says he is confident Mascherano will stay, and admits the potential sale of Mohamed Sissoko - ironically to Juve - could help finance any permanent deal.

"It could help," Benitez told the club's official website.

"We don't have too much news but we are working with Momo Sissoko and I think we are close to a final solution which will be good for him and the club.

"I have confidence Mascherano will stay with us. I don't know the exact position now but I talked to the player yesterday and he wants to stay.

"I have had some contact with the owners. We were talking before about Sissoko and Mascherano. We are working and being pro-active."

sounds like reasonably good news....
I think he wants to stay and he probably will.
G + H need to get the finger out tho. This should have been sorted months ago....

Rafa Benitez is hopeful a deal to keep Javier Mascherano at the club can be concluded in the coming days.
The Argentine is currently on an 18-month deal at Anfield, though both he and Benitez have repeatedly expressed the desire to make the move permanent.

Benitez said: "It is progressing. Rick Parry has been working on this and Momo Sissoko.

"We are working hard on Mascherano and maybe we can say something positive in a few days.

"Really, we don't need to do anything because the player is already with us, it's just got to be finished. If we can finish it now, that would be perfect.

"He is here already and if we don't do anything he can still play for us. But he wants to stay."

The transfer of Sissoko to Juventus was completed this afternoon, and Benitez added: "I think it's a good move for Momo and for us. He is a very good professional and a nice boy. He wanted to play and it's difficult here with Lucas and Mascherano playing well now, and Xabi Alonso and Gerrard.

"Everything has been positive. We have four players in this position so it's good for him and good for us."

Meanwhile, Alvaro Arbeloa, Daniel Agger and Andriy Voronin remain Liverpool's only injury concerns ahead of Wednesday's trip to Upton Park.

that looks pretty sweet and you'd hope that in 2 seasons babel and lucus would be in there as well, tho having 4 world class central midfields does hide the lack of quality in other positions. Out of Interest, has anyone changed the words of the best midfield in the world song now momos gone?
